Could also have been a trainer model of some kind, either an experienced flight leader with extra electronics, or two pilots. I guess we'll find out sooner or later! (Depending on when it gets added to X-Wing

My guess is a TIE with a second seat for the trainer. Like a drivers' ed car. He's got full controls there and can override the pilot if needed. Like when your driver's ed instructor would slam on the brakes because he thought you couldn't finish that right turn before someone plowed into you, and you had enough time to do it like three times before that car showed up.
As for the trailer, I'll let you know when I see it. The trailer for the trailer was interesting, though.

I believe I read a while back that they were aiming for "Scarface in space" or something similar... probably came from reddit.
EDIT: Found source for second comment (although not where the scarface comment was from).

That doesn't prevent them from also having a training TIE. Sims are all well and good, but if you KNOW something is a sim you might fly a bit differently than when actually in a ship in space.
