Yeah my issue is one big enough and scary enough to draw attention away from the Phantoms
Vader would fit. But...so would another Sigma
TIE/D with a Tractor Beam would be nice, and might pose enough of a threat to draw heat away from the Sigmas. Vessery with A Score To Settle, or Countess Ryad with a 1-point Elite, or else TIE Mk.II for all the greens and a 0-point Elite. It won't be easy to proc Vessery's ability, but it can happen without loss of useful actions.
I feel like the threat profile of a TIE/D kinda fits well with the list. An /x7 Defender would be a bad fit since it'd be too much harder to kill, and thus get saved for last, while your opponent just blows away those 4-HP Phantoms. Putting a more-threatening but not-as-hard TIE/D works. That's kind of what strikes me as awkward about mixed Gunboat/Defender squads. Defenders are often a good deal harder to kill, so the Gunboats will just get focused down. That's another case where TIE/D is possibly stronger than TIE/x7, because it makes your opponent's choices harder.
Quickdraw might be a nice compromise between an ace and a TIE/D. It's another high-damage threat that you really can't afford to ignore, and it provides some high-PS insurance with a punch against arcdodgers. VI, FCS, Advanced Optics, Title, LWF comes to 36 points.
