(Basically, I want to post, but I liked the older main forum painting thread and a new topic seems a waste, I cant be the only one who feels that)

neat isd, love the design (fits my style)

I'll have to go see if I can get a few decent pics of what I've been working on as I have no clue where the forge went (my thread)

I so badly wish Legion was around that scale.

Me too, also makes me wish for a prequel era Legion, if I could make myself a CIS army at 28mm or 5mm I would be happy.

Number one reason I wasn't really interested in Legion. I want to fight a war, not a skirmish. Cut the scale by half, at least, and I would have been all in. Match the scale to X-wing, and I would have gone back and bought in to all of the rest of that too!

Just smacks of a missed opportunity.

Still working on technique, although each squadron gets a little bit better than the rest. Mostly finished up with a more elaborate squadron for Ghost. The Phantom II is from Mel's shop on Shapeways -- that was my first order from there and I was really impressed with them.

I picked up some T-70 x-wings to try and paint up. Of all the squadron ships in Armada, I loathe the core X-wings. They are so inferior to the sculpting on just about every other ship and look terrible (imho) painted. Can't wait to see if the T-70s from Mel end up looking better.

Doesn't that set from Mel's have the Phantom I as well?

If so, have you painted that up as well or just the Phantom II?

The painting looks amazing by the way.

It does have the Phantom I -- I just have that primed, haven't started it yet. It's a great little model as well. The amount of detail that Mel works into the squadron ships is astounding.

Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it!

I did some quick painting of leftover squads last night. I had these black primed, so I tried to do a Slave 1 pattern on the Firespray, I tried to channel the Lando Falcon on a black base, and I tried to do something I haven't done with the Jumpmaster. I need to clean up my downstairs plasticrack pile. Not sure if there are more stragglers down there in opened packs. I know I have an unopened Rebel Fighters 1 and 2 laying around however. My group has throttled back on Zombicide, so I have more time to paint my other stuff... at least until Legion gets here in a month.

Abdolutely love the YT, very nice!

I've been working on building a table for armada. What do you think of the paint job for the tabletop so far?

Wow...

It's awesome!

What're the straight lines? Markers for distances/setup, or something else?

My goodness, that's absolutely gorgeous! The colours are stunningly beautiful, and the deployment zones (or is it just extra space for cards?) are subtle enough yet clear. Love the planets, too. Amazing work. I'm guessing you used an airbrush and not just regular spray cans?

I've been toying with the idea of maybe trying to do something like that some day, but you just set the bar way up high...

Thank you. The table is 4 ft wide, 5 inches marked on each side for cards 1 inch will be the supports for the Lego table top that will go on for my kids. I will be adding markers for deployment as well. Paint is 100% spray paint, lots of spray paint, 12 different colors in all. There's lots of great YouTube videos on how to do it, and I did have a few setbacks that made me go back to the drawing board. I have a background in graphic design but have never actually done a painting.

Next step is trim around the edges, clear epoxy top (colors will almost be twice as vivid), supports for a Lego table top for my kids, legs and wheels.

Wrong picture

I messed up multiple times, here's a mistake and the process to fix it.

so I may have over done it a bit

Try that on an ISD, it could be like the chimaera’s sister ship, and that paint job looks great!
