FFG Regionals

By Card Knight, in Star Wars: Armada

25 flying at FFG headquarters today. Pretty solid variety so far.... quick glance is:

2 VSD 2 arq,

Mon Karren and MC75

A couple of ISD/Quasar lists

Triple assault frigate with Ackbar

MC30 and AF with Ackbar

MC75 and MC30, one with Sato one with Raddus

Mon Karren and RLB AF

Admo and Yavaris and 3 flots

MC30, TR90, pair of hammerheads

Another MonKarren and Admo

Roughly 4 ISD and quasar lists, also 4 Raddus lists. Lots of Cymoons and MC75s

Raddus

Defiance

Admonition

Jaina’s Light

TR90

Comms Net Transport

Shara/Tycho.

9-2 and 7-4 wins so far. Fun guys to play against. Relaxed attitudes all around that I see

Calling it now, this is gonna be the early-wave archetype to beat, along with whatever Vader Cymoon build the space Nazis settle on.

I'm hearing Rieekan Aces is winning on the top table.

Lol

From Discord:

"Getting wrecked by Riekaan aces at the top table final round in Minnesota :/ I needed one more activation out of a cymoon and a friggin yt-1300 got the kill..."

Been warching too much Marty Mcfly? It aint 2016 anymore

Oh that's rich

If I had pulled anyone else I may have had a chance.... but going squadronless without Mothma MC30’s is not a favorable matchup vs Riekaan Aces...

Im wondering if slow rolling and flakking for longer could have changed the outcome, but I opted to try and pounce his yavaris and missed firing range by millimeters which pretty much sealed my fate.... I killed it the next round but it was too late

I called it Defiant Raddus in the Fleet sheet. It stumbles against strong squads. The first game ended with me killing a flotilla that tabled my opponent and got me credit for all his squads (100 points total or so) The second ended with my opponent’s last surviving Arquitens ramming my one hull VIP flotilla to keep from flying off the board. He saved almost 170 MOV with that move. Last round was 6-5 because Gallant Haven is still excellent at protecting squads from flak. He didn’t leave me any gaps and I lost the Ace-wings, Jaina, and a TR90. Ended that game with a 6-5 win with 1 MOV

Next version will look at Draven over Jaina’s

Looks like Cymoon and three Arq is popular. They use IF to help bring the red dice into reliable range

Edited by Church14

Oh ho silly me. I forgot to post what I was running.

Cymoon with Thrawn, IF!, GT, QBT, Strategic Advisor

3 X Arquitens Light Cruisers, one with Hondo

Maarek, Ciena, Valen, Zertik

Wound up with 8th today and 20 victory points, after a first round Store Champ bye.

And mine.

I thought we were friends.....

Kuat Chimaera , Jerry, ExRa, OE, HB, StratAdv, EWS, IF

2x DTT Arqs 1/w hondo

ExRaider w/ Monty

Cienna, Gamma, TIE Fighter Steve, 1 Generic TIE

Got to be the punching bag for a couple folks, but really solid people, and fun games.

If you would have just flown your Arquitens off the map like I wanted you to, I would have won that round big. But nooOOOOooo! You just had to go and ram my 1 health VIP flotilla to death and rob me of about 170 points.

It it was a pretty good move

Still got a 7/4 put of the deal :P

I got real close with that one, yeah. Not my finest maneuvering in the turn before.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think every single fleet other than the winners had at least one wave 7 ship or card in it?

Most likely. My only wave 7 card was Raddus.

EDIT: I saw EWS in two of my opponents fleets. I’m not convinced it is worth it in a large ship meta. In a squadron or MSU heavy meta, it could be really good. So no surprises

Any update to the final standings and lists?

I’m sure someone has the pile, but all I can do is post what I knew:

I placed 4th with 22 tourney points MoV was something around 355.. 16th Place was 16 points. I think 8th was 20 points. So it was a very shallow final standings. 1st had 29 though. He looked to have earned it solidly.

So 4th place, 22 Points, 355(ish) MoV

-Strategic Advisor cannot be used if the ship it is on has already activated.

Going from 19 tournament points after round 2 to 20 after round 3 was devastating.... shoulda seen Riekaan aces across from me and just run away the whole match, at least gotten a 5 and knocked aces down a peg...

I didn't have any wave 7 stuff in my fleet, and neither did @RobertK or my first round opponent.

I don’t understand this... How does one not play with all the new toys?!?!

Meh, no time to practice with it really.

Tho I did just get the Profundity at the tournament due to Franz(first round opponent) getting it for me without telling me until he gave it to me.
