FFG Regionals

By Card Knight, in Star Wars: Armada

Man oh man, I do not look forward to the BS I'll have to face for NC Regionals. Rieekan Aces, Fish Farm, Vader Cymoon IF, and Raddus MCs.

From a couple of people who ran them yesterday, Hardened Bulkheads can potentially pay off pretty well for big ships.

I think it's a potentially strong investment for large ships that can take Engine Techs in particular like the two MC80s. Two automatic free damage vs a target of your choice is nothing to scoff at.

Ah but the Assault can't take an Offensive Slot, which I feel is usually the more popular one unless pushing squads. I could be wrong though. I was worried about Super Pickles benefiting too much, but the Assault taking Engine Techs, ECM, and RBD can't take it. It is still an option with the Command Cruiser though.

I think someone will make the argument that if you are not taking a portion of double ram damage from ploughing into smaller ships, you don’t need RBD to repair that damage...

But EWS is the new hotness.

RBD is so 2017. Get with the times, old man.

Sorry, that 1-die worth of snark is obstructed due to my chaff token and therefore your attack is cancelled. ?

I am actually surprised at the amount of Wave 7 stuff. Despite the only time to analyze this stuff, it is a little early to be playing it with no practice. I had an OP event Saturday and I just didn't have the nerve to play a heavy wave 7 list. Need some table time with things first.

I wonder after the new wears off if we will see lots of this stuff staying or going away.

Just from what I am hearing it sounds like Sloane still made a strong appearance, (lots of lists with her). Can anyone there confirm that?

Mostly interested in what direction most on the Imps went. Was it a Cymoon fest?

Oh ho silly me. I forgot to post what I was running.

Cymoon with Thrawn, IF!, GT, QBT, Strategic Advisor

3 X Arquitens Light Cruisers, one with Hondo

Maarek, Ciena, Valen, Zertik

Wound up with 8th today and 20 victory points, after a first round Store Champ bye.

Congrats on that 8th place finish, again. Our round three game was fun - those Arquitens & squadrons really tore up poor Ackbar's AF, though. :(

I ran Sloane to a very mediocre finish. My three games were all against Rebel Fleets, and my games were longish, so I didn't get a lot of chance to see other fleets.

I played against three Imperial fleets, all with ISDs. Round one was Sloane/ISDII/Avenger, round 2 was 2 Cymoons & Vader, round 3 was 1 Cymoon. I think about half (that's a just a rough estimate/guess) of all ISDs fielded were Cymoons.

I played a Sloane ISDII/Quasar/Gozanti with some Wave 7 tech. I went up against a near-mirror match with a Kuat in round 2 followed by a Kuat BTA/Demo list in the final round. The only Cymoons I know of were the double-Cymoon list and the aforementioned Cymoon-Arquitens (Sorry, the tagging interface isn't working, @Card Knight)

There was also a cymoon/Vader, quasar, goz list with max bombers

So 4/8 ISDs were Cymoons, I think? I know @Alzer ran a Kuat as well, now that I think of it. 3 Kuats (Maybe 2, I don't remember for sure if my second round opponent was a Kuat or ISD1), 4 Cymoons, and my ISDII.

Looking at the leaderboards post, there are a few Imperial lists I can't account for, but only one of them was top 16.

A sheepish 18th place with my Sloane Phantom list.

Quasar Fire I, Sloane, Boosted Comms, Flight Controllers (88)

ISD-I, Avenger, Leading Shots, Dual Turbolaser Turrets (124)

Gozanti Cruiser, Comms Net (25)

Kudos for taking Phantoms out of the garage. :)

Do you find that they perform well?

They worked ok as clean-up for my squadron alpha strike in my first game. In my second game, they failed to drop a shieldless Admonition that had only one defense token left: 5 attacks, 10 red dice over a few rounds: 1 accuracy, 0 damage. :( Third game, they brought down a Liberty with the help of an interceptor or two. My squadron group was mostly fine. The ISD was too lightly upgraded to be as effective as I needed it to be. I need to fly my fleet better is the main thing.

Phantoms were fine.

This was one of the lists I couldn't account for, meaning that I think we had 4 Cymoons, 3 Kuats, an ISD1, and an ISD2. I just got confirmation from a friend who played against the one list I didn't know about.
