Day Marker Movement and Effects

By AMBusam, in Android

If I am reading the rules correctly, the day marker moves at the end of the day and the effect of the space it just left is carried out.

What this means is that the murder specific event is not revealed until the end of the 1st day of week 2.

There are murder event cards that say they affect the first 3 days of week two. Given the above, this would mean that it only affects the players for days 2 and 3 of week 2 since it is not revealed until the end of day 1 of week 2.

This also means there are timing differences with the fixed movement of Lily Rockwell, Jimmy the Snitch, and the Testimony leads. Lily and Jimmy would move as soon as the day marker is placed on day 1 of week 2. The leads would not move until it progressed to day 2 since their movement cues are on the murder event card.

Am I reading the rules right and is this how it is intended to function?

Thanks for your input.

That is my interpretation, too.

Oops. I think we forgot to move Lily and Jimmy.

But we also wondered about this general thing (or at least I did) since I noticed that it resulted in having no Event at the end of Day one, which seemed slightly odd, though not so much that i felt any need to worry about it until I saw this post...

I think you are incorrect. At the END OF DAY the sequence is as follows:

1) Move the Day Marker.

2) Consult the Calender for events. (which implies the events of NEW space are carried out)

3) Pass the first player marker. (if applicable)

4) Then a new round begins.

At least thats how I read it.

From the rulebook, page 15:

During the End of Day Phase, the players first advance the
day marker by one day. Once this is done, any end of day
events shown on the previous day are carried out. Once the
end of day events are resolved, a new first player is determined.
Finally, a new round begins.

I think it can't be any clearer.

Please ignore the previous post.

Although I think the way I have it stated makes more sense, the rulebook does state its the event from the previous day. Seems strange to me to not have an event happen for 2 full days.

Sorry for the confusion.

Along the same lines, and forgive me if this is a stupid question, but are there only 12 rounds in the game? Someone says 'game week' to me and I think 7 days, but looking at the calendar on the board reveals only six days per game week. Am I missing something obvious or trying too hard?

Even in the future, they rest on the Sabath. happy.gif

Remember, these are investigators doing a job. Most people don't work 7 days in a row. I am surprised they are even putting in a 6th day of work.

Yeah, I was looking for a card or passage in the rulebook that mentioned the Cardinal or the Order of Sol forbidding mucking around with murders and skin jobs on Sundays but didn't find it. Fair enough.
