Vynder

So I've tried running a PTL Vynder with very little luck. I came up with a new build I want to try and thought I would see if anyone tried something similar.

Major Vynder: VI, Advanced Slam, Cruise Missles, Harpoon, OS-1, Extra Munitions

40 pts.

I know. It's expensive. Also I put EM on a ship with reload. But hear me out. If I am going to get the most mileage out of Vynders ability and the title, I can't afford to reload every round. I should be slamming and target locking or focusing. I have never been able to shoot more than. 2 harpoon anyway, so EM gives me at least that. Cruise missiles are there to add another cheap and effective missile. Am I ruining this ship?

Personally i dont think you are ruining it as i have ran this list a few times

Its a ship that can go down fast so to me having em on it gives you great offense the first few rds. If i had 4 pts i would add another harpoon missile.

After the first 2 volleys you have to jump out and reload which isn't optimal. With rac you need offense with the decis 0 greens

Ive enjoyed the build. Ive won and had some really close losses. Might take it to a tourney next weekend see how it does

I would like to have a gunboat that could slam after most of the ships have moved so I can choose the exact spot every turn and shoot (not with cheep cannons) every turn.

So I came up with this

Major Vynder

-VI

-OS-1

-Adv. SLAM

-Any number of missiles that do not require to spend the target lock (Cruise missiles/Harpoons/Homming missiles)

It's really expensive but I think it will be a lot of fun.

I took RAC and Vynder to a regional last weekend.

Vynder with VI, title, Harpoons and Adv.Slam.

RAC with VI, Engine, Gunner, Hot-shot Copilot, and Rebel Captive. 98pts.

Initiative bid vs PS9 and 10 instead of either Dauntless title or Extra Munitions.

In practice, this was loads of fun hooning around the board like a madman and beat lots of lower PS arc-locked lists.

At the regional, I found that Vynder was terrible against PS11 Poe and also Dash - Poe moves after and strips the TL whilst Vynder couldn't shoot when in Dash's donut hole.

Also Assaj and Dengar turned out to be an uphill battle, along with Kanan/Zeb/Fenn.

Still lots of fun though. QD is better if you want a competitive list.

I'm a fan of VI, Adv SLAM, Harpoons, and Proton Rockets on Vydner - the 4 die range 1 prockets are a good cover for the rang limits of the harpoons. At 38 points he's not the fattest build possible.

If you are using VI Vynder, I think he should run like a light control piece. XG-1, Flechette Canon, Linked Battery, Adv. SLAM. Then, if you have the points, Harpoons.

Idk how i feel about running Vynder with cannons. Id rather run a generic or Karsabi. Not saying its bad but slamming for the extra defense and missile shots are nice. I made some mistakes in my losses so I'm looking forward to playing more without mistakes and seeing how it does
