I was able to go to the FLGS today and pick up my new wave 7 plastic crack (and their last in stock Chimaera to boot!). I was meeting someone up there to discuss starting up a Corellian Conflict campaign, and we had to try out our new ships.
I hadn't given a lot of thought to a wave 7 fleet yet, so came up with one on the fly.
Faction: Galactic Empire
Points: 399/400
Commander: Darth Vader
Assault Objective: Advanced Gunnery
Defense Objective: Fire Lanes
Navigation Objective: Minefields
[ flagship ] Imperial Star Destroyer Cymoon 1 Refit (112 points)
- Darth Vader ( 36 points)
- Devastator ( 10 points)
- Pass Officer Hornface ( 4 points)
- Veteran Gunners ( 5 points)
- X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points)
- Intensify Firepower ( 6 points)
= 179 total ship cost
Victory II-Class Star Destroyer (85 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Disposable Capacitors ( 3 points)
= 95 total ship cost
Quasar Fire I-class Cruiser-Carrier (54 points)
- Squall ( 3 points)
- Flight Controllers ( 6 points)
- Boosted Comms ( 4 points)
= 67 total ship cost
1 Dengar ( 20 points)
1 "Howlrunner" ( 16 points)
2 TIE Interceptor Squadrons ( 22 points)
As you can see, it's not that great (Vader and Veteran Gunners on the same ship? Objectives that use tokens and no strategic?). But it has a strong alpha for squadrons. I'm looking forward to trying my Quasar for the first time since I got it, and I haven't pulled a Victory class out since wave 2.
I was going up against Raddus on an MC75 Armored Cruiser, Admonition, a TRC90, 2 YT2400, a VCX, and 3 E-Wings.
MC75 Armored Cruiser
Raddus, RBD, Leading Shots, External Racks, DTT
MC30 Torpedo Frigate
Lando, Ordnance Experts, APT, Admonition
CR90A
Jaina's Light, Raymus Antilles, TRC
3 E-Wing, 1 VCX, 2 YT-2400
He had the bid advantage and chose first player, choosing my Fire Lanes.
The deployment (actually after the VCX moved, but close enough.)

He moves the objective token closest to the VCX away from my ships towards his CR90. My fighters made the insolent freighter pay for that, although it took Howlrunner and both Interceptors to do it. At the end of turn 1, he had 1 victory token to my zero.

During turn 2, my activation advantage meant he didn't have any shots with his ships, so other than destroying my Interceptors (let's face it, they'd done their job destroying the freighter), he didn't get a lot of shooting in. Here's the end of the turn.

To start turn 3, he brought Admonition in, setting him up with dual side arc shots on my ISD. I took my shot first with the Victory using the disposable capacitors, on both the MC75 and the MC30, doing heavy damage to each. Then the ISD unloaded on the MC75 destroying it. Unfortunately, his dice failed him with his MC30, and only 1 arc even rolled a critical. The end of turn 3:

At this point, we stopped paying attention to the objective points. Turn 4 his CR90 took a dual arc shot at the Quasar, leaving it with 2 hull. It had a repair queued up, and dropped a face up card. Admonition did some damage to the Victory, but not enough to seriously hurt it. The end of turn 4:

I impressed myself with my maneuvering during turn 5, with the Quasar and Victory quite literally having about 1mm between them at the end of the maneuvers. Admonition ended up destroyed, but due to a drama at home and the wife requiring assistance, I ended up packing up at this point, with us agreeing the Rebel scum had lost.
It was a fun game, with neither of us having anything near optimized lists, and no real plan for what we were going to do. Admonition's complete failure to roll more than 1 critical even after rerolls for Ordnance Experts and Concentrate Fire tokens was laughable.
Im looking forward to trying some actual list building with the new ships and cards, and really looking forward to putting together my ISD1 kit I just got from @melminiatures (since I now have 4 ISD models ?)
