Save me Matt Santos!

By geek19, in Star Wars: Armada

So I tried out Bail Organa last night. Predicting the round is NOT easy, but oh man can he flip a game on its head if you time it right. Anyone else try him out? I've got him in a bidless Ackbar fleet currently, but I definitely need to try him way more.

I've got him in a sato fleet, likely going to test it tonight.

I love it, a reference inside of a reference. Incepfrence.

I think Bail is the much harder one to use of the two "pick a number" options. For Pryce, the obvious strategy is to bait out a forced move early that you can then react to on the next round. Bail, if you don't have that timing down exactly you are in for a world of hurt.

Every time I think about him, I think about making him part of my Admonition builds. Then I remember that he's medium-large only. :( Maybe a MC80L last-first is the goal?

For Bail I think it's going to come down to round 3 or 4, and im personally thinking (in my own playstyle) to push it one round further than I think I want it (I want him 3rd, so really, make him 4th). Maybe 5th, but I'm going to need to be ALIVE then....

Bail makes Ackbar80 with AG ******* scary.

I might use him on Sato75 since I bet I can reliably have engagement on round 4 and be in position. Bail will make commands much simpler too. Nav, Nav, CF. Gets you in position and ready to fire when you get first.

I had him on an Ordnance 75 yesterday, and I did get the last first. I don't know how easy of a build it is in a non-monster trucks world. But a crazy double large with him on one and Strat ad on another....

Yep confirmed amazing... I set him for turn 4 and slow rolled him at speed one on mc75 jumping to speed three and pouncing on yvaris end of turn three, activated first round four blowing away luke, yvaris, and bh all in one go...then sailed away from fight unmolested...

Not sure how easy it is to setup, need more experience, but my initial impressions is that he, all by himself, had completely changed the game... Bid for second, get your objective advantage, AND go first... OH BOY!

I’ve done exactly that. It’s pretty sick. Some of it will depend upon how the meta shakes out on bids and objectives, but there are so many objective based lists that you want to outbid and take second. Then you get the benefit of first on the one Joey round you need it.

also don’t forget the every other effect on all of your other activations.

Yeah. I see Bail as better. Guaranteed 1st is better as a general rule than guaranteed last.

Typical scenario where both Pryce and Bail are on the table.

Price as 1st player wanting a last activation. Price has to announce first what turn he is activating in. Thus Bail can just choose to get 1st player on the following turn allowing him to stop the first/last.

Well...it's a possibility at least. :)

Eh? Pryce is offensive, she allows aggro.

Bail? I can only see this as defensive. When is Bail better than just bidding? When you want to play your own objectives.

At the moment i am struggling to see which objective trio strongly benefits from Bail.

Advanced Gunnery on a death pickle, dare I say fleet ambush on a liberty or death pickle, picking turn one? And for the blue.... salvage run because it’s all around awesome?

I see Bail as more of a counter to last/first. I build lists that work well as first or second, so it's a win-win in all of my fleets. Sure I'll go first with AG after my MC75 is in your face, or I'll go first right after I bring in Admo to block you and keep that double side arc, or I'll go first in Salvage Run to get an attack off before obstructing the hull you want to attack. Bail let's my last/first with the biggest bruiser in the game.

Pryce enjoys a low activation fleet though. If you take more than your opponent, you get no benefit from her. So 3 ships would be great, which lets you run a lot of squads or 2 ISDs.

Are we just quoting West Wing then? Because if so, then gosh, Jed, I don't even want to know you.
