Not for the Intel. For the +1 to counter.
And for the Synergy. Attacking Dengar? Counter 2+swarm. Attacking Howlrunner? Counter 2+swarm. Attacking Sontir or suffer damage? Counter 5+swarm. Attacking mauler, who is dealing auto damage? Counter 3+swarm. Attacking these low hull Tie Interceptors, who are rolling 6 blue dice when attacking (with swarm)? Counter 5+swarm. Forgot your Intel? Hitting your head on the table. :)

It sort of works, in that you're trading 1 counter off your Interceptors for -1 die off an attack which you presumably wouldn't otherwise survive. I'm not sold on the idea, but if you think that +1/-1 to your own counters is an acceptable trade for -1 to attackers' dice...

As a true Imperial, I gladly sacrifice my pilots for more fire power.

Any ship that requires a fighter screen whenever possible would probably like to have him around. Soontir+ Escort has already been brought up, and forgive my Wave-1-Mindset here, but the good old TiE Swarm with Howlrunner isn't all that bad with him either.

Of course, he's absolutely not without alternatives- on the contrary. That's not the discussion here. But he has his spot- precisely, his spot is a synergistic blocking fleet at range 2 of any ship that gets stuck in too deep (Victories, anyone?).

Plus, he gives you a nice little bubble to zoom your hurt squads into- to make sure they go out swinging if they have to.

I really like the design of Goran. Maybe 5 points would have been better, since he's not Toryn level of crazy, but he is a really neat tech card to run.

Stronghold + Goran?

Or you have Dengar around somewhere and you get counter 2 reduced to counter 1.

Worth noting that Howlrunner is an "add" effect, so if you have counter 1 jammed down to 0 and try to add Howlrunner,

I like Goran. I think his cost is stupidly high.

But I also hope that is due to meta progression after wave 7 release. I didn't think about it but maybe there is something I didn't see yet.
