Expansions- IA and Otherwise

By subtrendy2, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Hey everyone,

Out of curiosity, I was considering what the draw to expansions is for people, both in video games and board games. It seems like a lot of people have different expectations on what they want out of extra content, and I think this may be part of the reason why expansion content may be a somewhat controversial issue with many gamers.

Anyway, if you have a couple minutes to spare (average length is about 2 minutes), I'd be grateful if you could partake in this brief survey .

I'll be writing an article on my findings sometime in the next few weeks, so I'll be sure to post it here.

Thanks!

IMO a good expansion helps develop something already good and free standing into something even better.

I think IA does a pretty good job: the core is fun and has great replayability. You really don't need anything else to get a considerable amount of enjoyment from it. So with the expansions, the added missions, heroes... etc really boost that original game.

I think the problem with expansions is when you're sold an incomplete original game and need expansions to turn it into a complete one. Although I haven't played it, the new Battlefront seems like a good example of this.

Survey taken. Now please send me my free gift. :P

More of something good, that's what I'm looking for in expansions; more of something good and preferably done in new and interesting ways. With IA, it is all about new stories for me; everything else is a bonus :)
