Favorite "Unusable" List?

By GottaBadFeelingAboutThis, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

I finally put this down on TA today ...

This list started with a few core ideas:

- Trandoshan Hunters are fun, but die easily and have mobility issues. If they could reliably reach their target, they've got a built in +2. If they don't die.
- If I'm going to play defensively, why not Zillo? And ain't BT a Hunter too?
- Hey, if I'm playing Empire, what if I started messing with weird Tempt synergies for things like Opportunistic ...

Therefore presenting: "Didn't see THAT coming!"

Deployments:
10 E Trandoshan Hunters
8 Emperor Palpatine
8 Royal Guard (one per hunter to help soak damage that Zillo didn't ...)
6 BT-1
4 Greedo
2 Imperial Officer
Zillo
Temporary Alliance

Command:
New Orders
Assassinate
Heightened Reflexes
Grisly Contest
Brace for Impact
Stealth Tactics
Strength in Numbers
Face to Face
Price on their Heads (use one Trandoshan, then move to an Imperial Officer to reactivate the group with New Orders?!)
Opportunistic (with Tempt)
Planning
Disorient (with Tempt)
Targeting Network
Looking for a Fight
Ready Weapons (on Royal Guards!!)

Love it. It might not be good, but I like the thoughts put into it!

Perhaps take rClawdite instead of Greedo (even though I'd never play without Greedo). He could dump an Evade or Block on either Trando - ****, a free Surge might also be worth it on them.

Anything with Boba Fett. Everyone says he's too expensive (true) and that he should not be played, but he's super fun for you and annoying for your opponent.

I won a store championship this past season with a Boba Fett and Jabba list (Jabba is an auto-include if you want to play Boba). but I fully admit that I got super lucky.

I'm thinking Boba isn't half bad on the new map, and should also perform well on Nal Hutta. Though a 13 point VP grabber is probably a bit too much :) But I do feel like the 6 movement and Mobile makes him solid for that reason. I'm thinking his Strength is that he is so fast, that he can get a shot off and still deliver (pickup) stuff.

He's a great assassin too. Like send him in to take out an objective or terminal holder like an officer, or like Gideon and thus take an activation away from them. Then he can start taking shots from behind enemy lines. But most games are only 2-3 rounds nowadays.

The other problem is that they made IG so good that it makes not sense to take Boba anymore. He moves faster than Boba, and does way more damage since he can attack twice (and 4 times with Blaze of Glory). The general consensus is that Boba Fett would need a 2nd attack to be worth 13 pts.

Still, I don't think he's completely unplayable, but at premier events, it's a different story.

He is by far and away the best candidate to get a mod card in an upcoming pack or box imo. In fact, apart from perhaps Zuckuss and 4-LOM the Boba fix is what I wish for the most out of the future Waves.

Same here. I hope they keep the momentum going of fixing over costed figures. Even something simple like he gets all of his battle disciplines and he gets an end of round attack similar to Vader's where you lose a die? Maybe even pierce two instead of one? Anything! LOL. :P

Yeah, it will be real interesting to see what they come up with (assuming they are working on it ;) ). Given that he is Boba, I would love to see him get Arsenal/Epic arsenal or some limited version thereof though. I feel it fits the Blaster/Flamethrower/Rocket launcher gear in a simple and somewhat thematic way. Or maybe a Lando style ability on attack, allow him to reroll one die with any die. And a cost cut of 1-3 Points.

Kinda funny idea I had to use Endless Reserves to get Jet Troopers back. Even though your opponent get points from them again, getting another Jet Trooper isn't bad. Also took 2x Reinforcements for the Riot Troopers. I think there's a solid play there still, where you sack one of them for good attack and then Reinforce it back in when you get initiative. Suddenly there's two Riot Troopers ready to pile on his/her dudes. General Weiss can really push them forward and if you can position him well, he should be able to either cover an area or get both a shot and his ordering action going. It's probably bad. I started with 2x eJets, but I really wanted Rule By Fear to get through the deck as fast as possible, to try and get Endless Reserves twice. Otherwise it doesn't really do much :)

Deployments:
General Weiss [16]
Jet Trooper [Elite] [7]
Riot Trooper [Elite] [7]
Dewback Rider [5]
Imperial Officer [2]
Zillo Technique [1]
Rule by Fear [1]
Targeting Computer [1]
Commands:
Grenadier [3]
Call the Vanguard [2]
Endless Reserves [2]
2x Reinforcements [4]
Concentrated Fire [1]
Shared Experience [1]
Negation [1]
Blitz [1]
Officers Training [0]
Take Initiative [0]
Element of Surprise [0]
Fleet Footed [0]
Ready Weapons [0]
Planning [0]

For that matter, Elite ISB Infiltrators have a really fun mechanic built in: one can double move, and the second can order his shot. Surges for hide, +2 damage and Deadly. If they had "Trooper" keyword too, I think they'd be a really potent Imperial unit. As is, I think they're good for their points, just not a lot of command card love.

My Tranny Rodeo list had it's day but current maps mean it's done.

Bossk,

Greedo,

Vinto

trando x 2

hired guns x 2

black market

Fun and on the cantina map can grab 3 crates with hired guns and back inside a wall of trannies turn two, 10 spaces of movement away from 30 points
