After what I saw at Krayt Cup, he seems to be. While the barrel roll is very nice, Thweek doesn't seem to be able to hold up. His cost is pretty high if you include the bid that one must have to properly fly him. The 1st Place team at Krayt Cup had a Thweek in his list. That player did not win a single game in the cut.
Is Thweek dead?
Thweek's not dead, he's just balanced. The lack of an EPT really hurts him, as does the fact that he's either got a great ability but stuck at PS4, or a great pilot skill but no ability or EPT. So he can do fun stuff, but unless he's facing Dengar or pre-nerf Biggs, there isn't much broken stuff he can really do.
Was he ever really alive, outside of a few outlying results flown by very capable players? He's 5 health, lacking the double re-position of legitimate aces, doesn't get a natural evade, and leaves an awkward 65'ish point hole you have to backfill.

This pretty much. He was always ok but not amazing.

Exactly right. Thweek is pretty good but in a balanced way, which means he gets dumpstered by the current crop of Nym, Miranda, Wookies, Fenn, Kanan, ultra S tier ships. If he had an EPT, he'd be GREAT. Maybe he could steal Nyms? (God I hate Nym and whoever gave him an EPT should feel bad).

Thweek is very good, as is the starviper mk2. The main reason we don’t see him in top cuts is most top players have switched to Rebels.

The reason you don't see him in top cuts is because if it goes to end game typically the opponent has a higher value point fortress than Thweek. Miranda, Poe, Kylo **** even Vader is often a higher value point fortress.

Exactly. Tourneys are a points game. How much can you not kill by time. 32pts is not enough for an endgame ship when 43pt small ship fortresses are floating around.

Fixed it
I once went 4-0 at a tournament with Thweek/timewalk asajj/ion sunny, and 3-0 and 3-1 at two others with Thweek/Nym/tlt Y. I believe that I lost him twice in those 11 games, and generally managed to kill everything else (minus in my loss). I always chose to move last with Thweek, except when I faced Vader/QD/HLC Nu where I decided to copy Vader's ability. Boost + barrel roll with the 1-bank template is the most amazing thing ever, even with a measly PS4. I actually retired him after the 4-0 tournament as I realized that I would never again even approach the greatness that is Thweek with Vader's ability

A friend of mine recently took Thweek/Teroch/Fenn to the top 8 of a 62-player regional, and another got Thweek/Guri/Fenn to the top 8 of a 123-player regional.
Anyway, it's a really fun ability that can be amazing, but as others have said, it's usually just balanced. Just make sure that you build your list to go to a maximum of 98 points so that you move last.
I think Thweek is great.

Did anyone ever think he would stomp the meta? Nah. 31 pt Fenn is clearly better when you are running Attani. Without an Attani list though, Id pick Thweek every time in that price range.

Thweek is in my regionals list...which means it is the best I can come up with....which means I am probably bad at this game.

And, considering Thweek: Just balanced. Like the Kimogila. Vaksai so far seems even underperforming.

My regional list is similar.
He was always cool.
He was never great.
I'll be honest - when I saw the StarViper Mk II card come out, I was deeply disappointed. Yeah, the funky barrel roll is cute, and a points discount is always welcome, but unless the discount had been ridiculous - and the StarViper had been severely overpriced to begin with, remember - it wasn't going to bring a bunch of mid-PS small based arc-only fighters back into the game anyway. I still kinda wish it had added the Systems slot; this would've made the generics semi-interesting, and the Virago properly intimidating. Broken on a top-tier pilot, of course... but the StarViper didn't have top-tier pilots, and Thweek being EPT-less left him merely 'neat', not 'OMG'.
