Screed Build - seeking feedback!

Haven't ever used Screed or Raiders with much success...figured I'd give 'em a try again.

The basic idea is old skool. Raider gives cover and harasses any squadrons we encounter, and when it gets the chance it uses a Gunnery Team'd volley of Disp. Cap. long-range blues. At least one gets turned to crit (Screed) to trigger Overload Pulse, setting things up for an Avenger strike. Goz is there just for Bomber CC. Quasar to serve as carrier so ISD and others don't have to bother with squadron activation -- Boosted Comms to give it some distance from the fight, and Flight Controllers to make the Defenders a bit meaner if they do get entangled.

Debated more squads (less potent variety) but scared of encountering an Ace squad list. Also considered dropping Quasar and Goz Bomber CC and going with Rogues e.g. Decimators/Morna, or even another ship e.g. Gladiator, which we know Screed likes. ;)

In our area, initiative bids are not very high so a 5 pt bid may get me first play 50% of the time. Seems like 1st player would be desirable. But, tried to choose objectives that would work well for me as 2nd player.

ECM would be a nice trade for BCC. XX-9s are iffy; if you’re putting 2 hull damage onto something with an ISD, they’re not likely to make the difference one way or another. If you’ve gotta have a crit upgrade, maaaaybe Ion Cannon Batteries to bug BTAvenger? (Or switch to a Kuat Refit?) Strategic Adviser would help with activation advantage, now that wave seven is out. Lastly, Superior Positions don’t feel optimal; four Defenders are strong, but can’t reliably prevent SP from being turned against you. Changing Hyperspace Assault to Contested Outpost could also be nice, but the positioning choices HA gives you are pretty cool. This looks like a fun fleet, good luck!:)

That’s a very expensive Raider, almost Demo level expensive, and you’re not getting as much out of it.

My regional List was using Instigator with Flechettes and Ord Experts, and was pretty effective with 4 Defenders at shutting down even large amounts of fighters. I ended up changing the Defenders at the end to 2 Decimators and Valen, but the Defenders would work also.

I think the solid recommendation is to keep Raiders cheap because they die easily. I also think a Raider I is a better anti squadron choice because of the 2 black vs 1 blue / 1 black making it easier to trigger the Flechettes, even with Screed.

But loosing the raider2 screws the OL Pulse & Avenger combo.

Drop GT from the raider and upgrade the quasar to a Quasar2, now move Kallus here to work off the red flak dice.

I don't think the Tie-Ds will bomb that often and you have plenty of squadron activations so look at 4 TIE and 4 Tie-Bs.

Thanks very much, guys! It's kinda funny...got message tonight from my local game shop letting me know that my Chimaera expansion is in and waiting for me! Thrawn is apparently here to relieve Screed of command. ;) Trying to resist diving right into using Thrawn, since I suspect he will be as addictive as Motti.

Made some adjustments based on your feedback, and switched to a Cymoon refit with IF and Wulf:

I hope you're able to get the Raider to work for you. They're really fragile for what you have planned for it.

emsgoof, yeah...I agree. It's why I've never considered myself successful using them before! My hope is that it gets in, does the job, and gets out! But the crew knows they are expected to sacrifice for the greater good of the Empire, if it comes to it.

Do not underestimate the power of a raider 1 with Apts I have killed full health ISDs with raiders and APTs

Probably drop BCC for flight controllers on the Quasar and a comms net on the flotilla. Against strong to reasonable fighter opposition even Tie-Bs with flight controllers can be good.
