Few questions

By Rasiel, in Battlestar Galactica

Hi, i have two questions about rules,

1. If Bommer is in the brig, can she look on top of deck at the end of her turn, even she cant draw any crisis cards?

2. When crisis card instruct player to send someone to sickbay, can he choose a character in brig. If so, does this release him from prison? Or does he must choose some other character ? Same for when he must choose someone to send to brig, can he choose someone who is already in the brig ?

1. Yes she can. Her special ability works in the Brig.

2. You cannot choose someone in the Brig to send to sickbay. Niether can you choose someone to send to the Brig who's already there. Both of these are in the FAQ.

Thanks, i havent notices there is a new version of FAQ.

But this rule, we dont like.

"The top card of each discard pile is open information, but
players are not allowed to count the number of cards in it."

Does this have some reason ? We dont like house rules much, but since this rule wasnt in FAQ previously we played that all cards are discarded face down. Its because unrevealed cylon has little choice when discarding cards. When this information is open and he is forced to discard cards from hand, he must show what strength and abilities is he discarding, and be blamed he did not played them in skill check/shooting/crisis card resolving/etc.

what others think about that ?

I belive the intent might have something to do with knowing how many of each card there are, for skill cards, and looking to see if the card that they want is still in the draw pile. Personally we look through the crisis pile at the ones we've faced, but never at the skill card ones. We forget how many times we've moved the jump prep track every now and then since people sometimes move them before we get that far on the crisis card.

There are enough other ways for an unrevealed cylon to remain undetected that this has never been an issue in any of the games I've played.

Skill cards are core of this game, i dont know where else can cylon do much harm than with "bad" use of skill cards (other than obvious - president, admiral).

Hi I didn't want to open a new topic cause this title is very correct for me, I have a few questions

- When person A is president , gets booted ,does he keep his quorom cards already dealt so in the next turns if he becomes president again he already has them or are they all shuffeld back in the deck so everytime you get a new president you have to start up building quorom power again from scratch ?

- Do basestars only appear from crisis cards? I draw lots of raider/heavy raider cards but with no ships on the field I cant do anything with those, or is it so that I can place a ship if I draw the icon and i have none on the field. (without a basestar) with a basestar I know I can..

- If I play a 7 person game, with Baltar and Boomer who both get 2 loyalty cards somewhere in the game, how do I do that without using all my cards and that way putting in 4 cylons. There just arent enough cards to play a big game with those extra needs and keeping lets say only 3. cylons in the game.

- If I send an unrevelaed cylon to the brig does that reveal him/her?

- we had the cylon detector crisis card ealt in the first round which states it has to be kept in play and you can't check other peoples cards. does that count for : all possibilities or just for certain action or personal skill cards. If I draw in later rounds new cards that say I can check other peoples cards do those cards overrule the earlier card or does the old one overrules all new ones. is there any way to get rid of that card during the game once it is dealt or is the whole 'episode' doomed with uncheckable cylons.

Sorry for all the questions, sometimes its a bit confusing but it is one hell of a game and I really hope new expansions will come !

tnx

1) When the President title changes hands, so does the already drawn Quorum card hand - so you do not have the ex-president holding cards, nor do you shuffle them into the deck. If a President has been lying about the Quorum deck you can find out.

2) Basestars only appear from cards - Crisis cards - the attack cards are most common, but some destination cards can do it to if I remember correctly. This does mean you can get periods of play where crisis cards ask you to activate cylon ships but you cannot place or move any due to the absence of any basestars.

3) You cannot have Baltar and Boomer together in a 7+ player game where you do not have a Cylon leader in play due to lack of cards. We use a simple houserule - once one of them is chosen the other cannot be taken unless a cylon leader has been chosen.

4) Definitely not - an unrevealed cylon is not revealed simply by brigging them. Execution will do it if you have the Pegasus expansion but not throwing them in the brig. The cylon must take the usual action to reveal and losing the special power on their 'You are a Cylon' card but not the super crisis card. This allows them to play for sympathy if they feel they might have some - pretending they are really human, or just reveal next turn that they have.

5) It blocks pretty much any voluntary/action/crisis based check where someone looks and puts it back - it does not stop a cylon card being revealed by a Cylon revealing themself or a character being executed (again Pegasus expansion only for execution) - just the looking and outting back type checks. Essentially Baltar's special ability does not work, and nor do any crisis cards that say 'look at loyalty cards'. Its not a nice card and deliberately so. However, its not normally cards that pins down cylons for me, thats just a shortcut so while it is an irritation its not game losing. Some cylons get too bold when that card is out.

thank you very much!

In that case, I highly recommend the following article as a way to get you thinking about ways you can diversify your strategies as a cylon:
