Which is your favorites starter ship and why?

By DangerShine Designs, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

Our group is also getting ready to start a new campaign, and needs a ship for four. I've been trying to come up with some options that aren't just the standard light freighter. I've put together 5 ships I'm going to offer as possibilities, though I won't be overly offended if they don't like my creations. I've done a little one paragraph history/writeup on each. The ship is basically a gift from their parents, (who are the previous generation of PC's.) This campaign will take place about 22ish years after the fall of The Empire.

The Names are what the previous owners dubbed the vehicles, so obviously the PC's can change them.

The Whiskey Neat : A Classic YG-4210, lovingly restored by a previous owner and converted into an expensive charter ship/party bus. Suitable for business events, meetings, or just a big *** party. I took the standard ship and gave it a few attachments, Luxury Passenger Compartments, Onboard Amenities, and an Improved Hyperdrive (from 3 to 2.) I then added a second Twin Medium Laser Cannon. This used up all of it's Hard Points, but the total price is still just 124,000. Just over the normal starting amount, but close enough.

Better Part of Valor: A HWK-1000. Originally grabbed by a collector, speed enthusiast, and notorious gambler Vargal Teen. Vargal h as recently had a run of bad luck and wracked up hundreds of thousands in debt. He has mysteriously disappeared and his ship has been sold at auction to pay off some of his debts.

The Last Tango: A Skipray Blastboat. Generally more expensive then a starting ship, but I like the concept so it gets a pass. This ship was sold as surplus by the Republic, soon after the defeat of The Empire. It was purchased by a small group of bounty hunters who used it for almost two decades. They modified the interior somewhat, alleviating some of the utilitarian design of the military and installing a few comforts, but it is still very tight quarters. It also has something of a reputation inherited from the bounty hunters who've been using it for almost 20 years.

Itchy Nethers: A YT-2000 Freighter. This is the closest ship to a standard Freighter. The ship has passed hands many times. It's most recent owner was the Twi'lek slaver Shay Kraz'na. Shay was a slaver who was apprehended by the local planetary military. She is currently rotting in jail while her ship is sold at auction. The ship gets it's name because while it's generally a good vehicle, it always has some part that needs scratching. Small bugs and malfunctions have a way of cropping up the ship is left unattended to long.

The Blind Mouse: A Loronar E-9 Explorer. The ship has spent most of its life as a scout vessel used by a family of Duros explorers. After decades of exploration the family is retiring from the business and selling off their beloved ship. The ship has seen countless planets and had thousands of encounters all across the outter rim. It also has decades of random undocumented changes that they've made to accommodate their peculiarities.

d6holocron.com All of the old WEG books are legally available for free.

I've still got all of my old WEG books down in the basement. I'm pretty sure I have that one, but it's been a few years since I've had a look at it. I'll have to pull it out.
