As the Ghosts emerge through the fog of war, led by the intrepid Fenn Rau, prepare yourself to see Boba Fett crew appear to destroy Twin Laser Turrets and Engine Upgrades throughout the galaxy.

This Boba Fett crew card is SUCH a good card to have in this game. When one upgrade is abusive, there is always a natural counter to it: Boba Fett.

It is a good card. But I wonder exactly how effective it is against a Ghost, where you have to get six shields off first. Not exactly hard counter

Advanced homing missile :P Only problem is Range 2 only which is Kanan's sweet spot for pilot ability.

I was using Bossk + AHM + Boba crew to one shot Palp off of Lambda's and TLT's off of Miranda.

The card has always been my biggest bane. Except for maybe TLT.

Which is funny because Paul designed Boba for the express purpose of jettisoning TLT's off of ships.

Engine Upgrade, not TLTs. He was designing it before TLTs even came out. Fat Han was the monster.

I'm pro-Boba Proba Fett, but this is some reactionary honkey tonk nonsense.

Ketsu/Bossk has been a great list to deliver Boba Fett crew card. This is the version I mostly use, except I had Inertial Dampeners instead of the new Contraband Cybernetics. Ketsu/Bossk

Yeah, that's correct. TLT's were just mentioned in the FFG article with him. Plus I swear there was another interview with him talking about how much he hated TLT's and this was a response to that. So I'm probably conflating a couple different articles/interviews.

Wait what? Ghosts have been around since W8. And in the year and a half that I played Kanan/Biggs, I only came across one person that had Boba in his list (which was a Ketsu/Bossk list btw), and I went 2-1 against him in the 2017 SCs. Never matched up against him at any of the regionals+ though (thankfully, as it really is a hard match to win).

Yes, but Fenn/Ghost is a new thing and it had a very strong showing at the last System Open.

That was because you had to target Biggs(Although that changed a bit with a later ruling on secondary weapons). No such constraint with Fenn Rau. You are free to fire away at Kanan while he just laughs at your 0-1 damage taken on a 3 dice attack. Fenn is a much more tricky pairing with him. The PS11 coordinate is huge.

I agree that Boba Fett crew is an awesome game mechanic. I'd like more things like it. In the Clone Wars thread, I came up with these custom cards:

Not a perfectly balanced solution, but it might be nice. Also kind of puts a clock on Nym or Miranda if they get tagged by Buzz Droids early in the game.

You're welcome ;) I'm pretty sure we only ended up facing each other twice and went 1-1. You may have faced Grawburg another time, but he didn't have Boba Fett crew. Anyway, I still mention that Boba Fett crit that got through on a regular shot at range 3 after a Dengar reroll that got the TLT off and Blinded Pilot for no rear shot return fire. Ohh good times :lol:

Boba's issue has always been by the time you chew through the shields the ability to discard is not as valuable.

Scum only have 3 platforms that can have crew and missiles, one is the Firespray, another is the YV666, last is the titleless Scurrg.

First two....yeah GL getting a precise R2 shot off. Scurrg could do it, but its generally best as a bomb-cheeser or alpha-striker, not a gimick delivery.

Theres many more ships now that have more hp than shields but theres also very few scum ships with a crew that can sacrifice that slot for boba. And the ones that can will never get it off w/o some massive luck (quadjumper?)

Yeah I ran boba a bunch of games back in the day when he first came out. Was hard enough to trigger unless you purposely took upgrades to get crits through. And even then as you said your target was likely heavily damaged already, so removing a upgrade at that point didn't make a huge difference.

It's mainly great when facing 2 large ship builds, but you're not always going to come up against them. It's also using a valuable crew slot, so YV's are really the only good home for him for the most part I think.

Really, Boba Fett crew should be altered.

Make him "Imperial and Scum only".

Change his ability to be,

"When attacking, after rolling defense dice, if there are one or more uncancelled Crit results you may cancel 1 critical result and discard this card. If you do, choose one upgrade card on the defending ship. That card must be discarded."

Oh I like that. He should be usable by the empire. I think the uncancelled crit thing would make him too easy to use though.

Say you get the perfect range two, Advanced Homing Missile + Boba shot off in the forst round of combat: What's the right upgrade to Boba off a ghost? The three that come to mind would be either the Engine Upgrade (no more PS11 boosting), the TLT (no more shooting outside of Arc, but you still have the rear arc) or the title (one shot per round, no rear arc).

I feel like the answer might be the title, but it probably depends on your own list. Any other thoughts?

You are giving up doing damage so I think it is fair. And since he'd be a one shot thing I think its ok.

rac w/ kylo, boba, +... kanan tlt gone, miranda tlt gone, poe r2d2 gone, palp gone... etc. All first turn of shooting, all at ps10.

Can you drop the title so the phantom cannot deploy? I don't know the mechanics of that interaction. Will the phantom drop anyways the ghost is destroyed?

The Ghost card:

Quote

Equip the Phantom title card to a friendly Attack Shuttle and dock it to this ship.

After you execute a maneuver, you may deploy it from your rear guides.

You've already docked the Phantom (at deployment) so it's there and won't go away, but yes, you lose the ability to voluntarily launch the Phantom.

Launching when a ship is destroyed is part of the standard rules for docked ships, so doesn't go away.

Sadly, the turret double-tap is on the Phantom title card, which you can't get at (so you might as well blow the turret itself off).
