The Runecasters Episode 14: The Apology War

By flightmaster101, in Runewars Miniatures Game

Hello Rune Warriors!

Today's episode The Runecasters talk about our experiences playing against Uthuk Y'llan armies! What we liked, what we didn't, and what we are afraid of going forward. Gabe also leads us through our apology tour(I know finally, right?)! That's right Josh and Aaron are finally apologizing to those cards we've wronged so long ago. Please do enjoy!

As a administrative note our next episode is scheduled to be available on Patreon on the 13th and available publicly on the 20th of February, due to some vacations/work stuff we are all dealing with in the new year.

Thanks, and as always you can find us at:

Awesome episode! Very fun to listen to. During the first part where you talked about the Uthuk, I was practically screaming the names and stats of all the upgrades. And then I imagined if I had to talk about the Latari Elves and realized that I would have been in exactly the same position as you all. :P

Thanks for the shout out, bro! If only I had a suitable recording device, I might apply to be the Uthuk representative.

Thanks! We all need a better education on the Uthuk, and I’m sure our local store championship will provide quite the education.

This is my fear going into my store Championship tomorrow. I have not played against the Uthuk yet.

I have yet to play against any Uthuk. I am attending a store championship tomorrow and I'm wondering if they'll be there! I'll have to make sure to give this a listen beforehand!

The few tips for facing Uthuk:

-Chip Damage matters

-They will run you down. Latari’s precious lateral movement feels underwhelming against being engaged in turn 1.

-If they have aggressive Shrieker, be very conscious of their ability to do a reform+charge at initiative three.

-The morale deck matters now. You have been warned.

Also, and I’m dead serious, don’t let Spined Threshers flank you. They are like watching a 600 car freight train going 20MPH. It is not unusual for a Spined Thresher to put up 10 Damage on a flank attack. It’s not that they are all that powerful, but that They get ignored

Yes, very much so. In fact I would say there is now a game within a game of how much damage can you shrug off with your defense vs putting a little damage at a time to try and outlast them.

Cant remember how it's put together, but there is a 6 tray berserker build that will do a 7 straight charge.

Or flesh rippers for that matter. Scary amounts of damage output on either of those units!

I listened to almost all of your episodes now. Glad the game and the podcast are relatively new and not like infinity when I started in its third edition. I like your content and am glad that you are theorycrafting for me since I'm not good at it. :)

Gabe gave me hope for an aspect I would love to hear more about from you guys. LORE. His infos about the waiqar cavallery scratched an itch for me. and details about terrinoth or general infos about the fluff are awsome. Fluff is what gets me going in these games. not the tournament scene. although I feel slightly prepared for some first uthuk games with my waiqar.

Do you think you could squeeze some of that in? Maybe a factionoverview per episode. or what are some of your favourite lorepieces in the game. Or are you indifferent about that because it's relatively generic? I don't know anything about terrinoth. and how ffg built it up. hence so many games already take place in it.

You do a great job. I am looking forward to congratulate you to your 500th episode in the future!

Best wishes from Germany,

Sir Ciper

Hallo @SirCiper Vielen dank für dein netten Worte!

We would love to add more lore to the show, if only we had some! FFG seems to have hit the reset button on some things with the history of Terrinoth. We are getting some great new sources with each expansion, as well as new games like Legacy of Dragonholt and surely the Runebound RPG. I feel like we are akin in the fact that I really get into the lore of any of the scifi/fantasy universes like as well. Everything from Star Wars to BSG to Tolkien and Shannara. As we get more sources we will most definitely be adding more of it into the show.

On a side note I am heading to Karlsruhe in September, so depending on where you are we may be able to meet for a game.

Thanks for listening!

Tschuss!
