Last night I flew a Squint (OT), a Phantom (EU) and a Striker (new stuff). I love it all, and more importantly, I fly what I love.

But it is true that the OT stuff ("Star Wars") is a bit weak. I'm gonna drop a /sf before an /ln these days. But like you said, I'm just has happy seeing a T-70 on the table as a T-65.

Speaking of Squints, this is a fun little loadout:

Soontir Fel (35)
TIE Interceptor (27), Royal Guard TIE (0), Debris Gambit (2), Experimental Interface (3), Stealth Device (3)

“Echo” (39)
TIE Phantom (30), Breach Specialist (1), Advanced Sensors (3), Push the Limit (3), Lightweight Frame (2)

Sienar-Jaemus Analyst (26)

I had a hoot playing this list last night. Ironically, my team mate was playing Rebels, so Jess Pava helped me several times to lay into the Ghost.

Yeah, I can't argue that most of the OT stuff is in great need of a helping hand. We do see some glimpses of some of them even today (the lambda mostly, but that recent win with a Firespray has me hopeful), but some like my old friend the B-Wing are still missing from what I've seen. It's the unfortunate consequence of using the headliners first. You learn how to make things better, but it goes to a different ship.

You cannot play Meta Star Wars X-Wing.

This needs to be large text on the back of a black T-Shirt with your favorite logo (Rebs, Imps, or Scum) on the front; sold at World's 2018 and on the FFG website. It would be a huge hit!

Always chasing the latest hotness. Even the complaints chase the latest hotness: any threads about TLT right now? Nope; all the complaining is about harpoons.

I guess if there is a bright side, it's that you can tell a bit about a player's motivation by his list:

If it's 4 OT x-wings, he's probably there to have fun, win or lose.

If it's Fenn/Nym/Miranda he's probably there to curb stomp you while getting reps.

A danger of all living games. I've seen it before. New mechanics come in, old ones become obsolete. There are ways to combat it, but it's a fact of a living game.

As for the "bright side", while I will not argue that it can be an indicator, I do believe it to be as dangerous as stereotyping. It applies a broad label on a single factor that doesn't tell the whole story. Without further info, you have no idea as to actual motive for the list. Maybe he genuinely likes it. Maybe he is trying it out to figure out how to best beat it. There are more reasons to run a list besides the false binary of "having fun versus stomp face". Likewise, the guy running the 4 t-65s is not beyond poor behavior. I've encountered several who would advocate for this list who are just as toxic as the worst competitive player. Both sides of that debate have there nice guys and their extremists. In the end, I'd say it is better to hold off on judgement until you've played the person a few times, rather then when they place their squad.

Ah, true.

The guy I teamed with this week was running Lowrikk (sic), Miranda and Pava. The wookiee proceeded to run over 4 asteroids in a row!! We joked that he was just there to collect ore samples, fight be dammed.

To sit down you would have been worried. Then you probably could have won with a fleet of Quadjumpers.
