Do we know the exact content of the core box?

By Belzebub1978, in Star Wars: Legion

As the Topic says, do we know? Cant find it anywhere. They just say 33 Minis but on the pictures the count doesnt fit.

For Example are there more stormtroopers in the corebox then in the expansion?

So it makes sence to buy two startersets instead of the expansionbox.

Vader

2x Speeder Bikes

2x 7 Storm Troopers

Luke

AtRt

2x 7 Rebel Trooper

Wow that was fast thx, so its the same amount as the Expansion boxes.

As far as I can see the expansion boxes are repackaged core troops. Not all core box photos have all tje troopers which makes it harder to see.

Theres a pic on the net just google legion core box and it has them all unpainted.

The mini contents of the core game are as above. Vader, Luke, 2 Speeder Bikes, 1 AT-RT, 14 Rebels, and 14 Stormtroopers. But, note that the trooper expansions come with 2 different cards not included with the core box.

Also, the Speeder Bike expansion and AT-RT expansion come with different poses for the minis, if you care about that sort of thing. Whether the cards in these boxes differs from the core set is yet to be spoiled.

i think the expansions will be similar to the other star wars games from FFG,

meaning, the same or slightly altered miniature with new options for the unit.

that way you are enticed to buying the expansion for the extra content.

that said, with the expansions coming out at a later date, I have pre-ordered 2 cores to get a decent size fighting force right off the bat.

I love speeder bikes, the scout trooper was always my favorite armor type, until rogue one, I like that scarif trooper armor now.....better have those coming out in a future wave, I will eat em up!!!!!

There are also 8 barricades in the box, I believe.

So to confirm - the only difference between the core set troopers and the expansion are a couple cards? IE you can test out both of the specialist types of stormtroopers before buying expansions?

I plan on eventually buying more, but I’m starting out with whatever we can come up with for “core set” rules/half size rules. Work my way there rather than just go all out upfront.

Just for clarity, the expansions for the core box contents will be coming out the same day as the core box.

The Rebel Troopers and Stormtroopers expansions come with Impact grenades and Grappling hooks. Both of which will be in other expansions. Otherwise they're the same.

It looks like only the Support options (speeders and AT-RT) have slightly different poses for the drivers. Which surprises me, it would have been cheaper to just include the same options in both the core box and the expansions.

I'm still content with my pre-order of 2 cores and 1 of each Heavy. Hopefully adequate number of dice, spare measuring/movement templates, ``````roughly $150 worth of models, double the number of barricades, and if I find I really NEED impact grenades/grappling hooks/unrevealed card in speeder bike expansion, I'm sure I can pick them up off eBay for significantly less than the $80+ I saved (Extra dice+Template+Stormtrooper box+Rebel Trooper box are necessary on top of 1 of each expansion to match the contents of 2 cores).

I think I’d go that route if I planned on playing both sides at 800 points. As it stands, my current plan is to start small and work my way up to that 800 for just one faction (likely empire right now) and all I could afford right now was the core set and the extra dice. The extra forces will be cheaper after the initial launch rush is over, and I can bulk up then, after I’ve played enough with the core set to understand what exactly I want to incorporate at 800 points.

I will be supply both sides for playing at home. Early on at least, you should be able to borrow Stormtroopers from opponents to play games. FFG historically has issues with maintaining stock at retailers, with long lead times for reprints. I don't think the price will drop significantly, however you might be able to pick up squads without grenade or technical upgrade cards for fairly cheap off the secondary market from people who didn't have folks to trade with.

Yea they did this to avoid people having to buy 2 cores to run a full list of 800. Which I love FFG for.

Impact Grenades and Grappling Hooks are in the Snowtrooper, and Rebel Navy Trooper expansion. Id just wait for those.

But only one copy of each. For anyone buying only one side, they are also likely to need to source more Impact grenades/Grappling hooks if they don't want to field lots of Snowtroopers/Navy Troopers, or buy more Stormtrooper/Rebel Trooper boxes than they can field in a standard 800 point game. Of course, this only matters for formal play, for informal play I'll just have the info from the card and make a proxy.

The beauty of just playing with friends instead of a tournament. I am happy playing tournament X-Wing because the rounds are fast-ish, and its a good way to get more games in a day. Legion strikes me as more a “grab the beer and chips/pizza with your friends and spend an afternoon on a single game or maybe two”

I expect I will play it like I do Bolt Action now, try for a weekly game at the gaming store, and participate in Tournaments so I can get 3+ games in a day.

Very true. I was writing from the standpoint of trying to be somewhat pared back in spending.

Has it been actually 100% confirmed the speeder bike expansion has slightly different models, from memory it looked like different arms. Its possible they are still the same in both boxes and we just haven't seen the parts .

I'm more interested in the card contents... I assume it's doubles of non-uniques, but there's no indication one way or another.
