Imperial FS31 (playing tonight quick thoughts needed)

By Ronu, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So league game tonight and most likely seeing T-65’s in some fashion. Probably a kitted Wedge and some wingmen. So in good fun one of my list being highly considered is this.

Sienar Specialist (17)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
Unguided Rockets (2)
Lightweight Frame (2)

Sienar Specialist (17)

Bounty Hunter (33)

Ion Bombs (2)
Operations Specialist (3)
XX-23 S-Thread Tracers (1)

The only real thing I’m slightly waffling on is the Ops Specialist or go with a Rebel Captive?

I like the Sienars. I don't like the Hunter. The Hunter has SO MUCH going on, it's far too busy.

I would consider this:

Bounty Hunter

Slave 1

EM

RecSpec or OpSpec

Prox Mines

Choice of Missile

I like the Sienars, and to be honest i never thought to load them with an ion turret and unguided... i may steal them and give it a try.

I personally have had no luck with the firespray but if i was you i would follow @Greebwahn 's advice. You have so much ion in the list already its probably better to put in stuff that does more damage then ion bombs and an ion cannon.

I'd love to know how this list went but if you need more punch try switching up the Firespray with Krassis, a heavy laser cannon, ops spec and maybe a bomb for 2pts like seismic charges or the ion bombs.

I find that Firesprays don't like taking out target locks and would rather focus or evade for their action.

Agreed. You can do a lot worse than a Recon Specialist as crew for this reason.

One of the nicest cut-price Firesprays I've seen was Kath Scarlet with Slave 1, Long Range Scanners, A Score To Settle and Agent Kallus. Against your target of choice, you can grab a target lock from 'safe' range, and then evade every turn whilst your crew & elite upgrades fill in any focus results you need.

I've flew Kath with almost that exact build but with mangler and tactician. You will almost always get a stress in our deal damage, or both. I had whisper and a tie fighter with Kath and took 2nd at a tourney. I forgot asts which would have helped the game that i lost

So it went like this, Firespray, rolled red dice that was worthless, then rolled some green dice that didn’t do much, then rolled more red dice that looked like usual green dice rolls, then died. Rolled a total of 3 times 11 dice and managed a hit. The Aggressors faired somewhat better keeping POE and an Y wing in check, but Wedge even without mods couldn’t miss with 4 Nat Hit rolls in a row no mods needed. So pretty ugly. However had I been able to actually hit anything with the Firespray I might have done okay with the build.
