Push the limit-Slam-Reload allowed?

By Rpsankey, in X-Wing Rules Questions

During a match last night I was testing out push the limit in the ept slot on my alpha class starwing and was able to slam and reload in one round after bringing the pain with harpoon Missiles. I was wondering if this is allowed? It would cause me to have two weapons disabled tokens too. Would both of those clear off at the end phase?

To my understanding this works and the weapons disabled tokens are like ion tokens in such that they all are removed at the end of the round.

Can anyone help me clarify this?

I see no reason why it wouldn't work. And yes they should both clear and if you have the title and a target lock you should be able to shoot as well.

It works but remember you also gain a stress token from PTL which stays with you until you perform a green maneuver. Starwings don't have a lot of them.

About the same as an E-Wing. Never seemed to bother Corran too much.

2 Bank/Straight and then Slam to another 2-speed maneuver is a pretty effective way to either get out of range or turn around and shoot again.

Advanced Slam also allows you to Slam, get free TL action and then PTL Focus.

Corran could boost.

I took it a step further. I have been pretty successful running 3 Rho Squadron Alpha OS-1's with Harpoons, PTL and Advanced Slam. You can slam for a U turn, reload and target lock. Or if you have the lock, slam, reload and focus. Yeah, clearing the stress can be a pain at times. But the few greens on the Alpha allow for a surprising amount of stress clearing maneuverability when you slam.

It's not gonna win worlds, but it is a LOT of fun!

It's also worth noting: you need to SLAM first with Push the Limit, you can't reload first, because you cannot SLAM as a free action. Folks here probably know this, but just adding for completeness.

And a Rho can SLAM. PTL/Advanced SLAM seems like it's been demonstrated to be a reasonable build. Is it the best Starwing? I'd guess not (the cheapness of LRS/Harpoon or Deadeye/Harpoon/GChips is probably "best"), but it's not trash.

:D I tried PTL/AdvSLAM with Ion Pulse Missiles once. That... didn't work as well. :P

Slam -> adv slam... Reload, ptl , focus =2 weapons disabled and a stress

yeah, I frequently have stress, 2 weapons disabled, a target lock and a focus all on the same ship. :) In one case I had a ISYTDS token, a harpoon token and a red target lock as well. The token stack was almost as tall as the ship.

This is probably why the ship comes with two Weapons Disabled tokens.

I coulda sworn I saw his beard while getting some Tic-Tacs the other day...

I think PTL/Adv.SLAM is excessive on the gunboat. They're not built to be aces - at any pilot skill - so you might as well play to their jousting strengths with LRS or Deadeye/Guidance Chips. If anything, PTL/Adv. SLAM is probably best in conjunction with cruise missiles, given that they already have the token stack before engaging.

Of course, at that price point you're simply better off with a HLC, since you don't have to spend turns reloading or being dependent on tokens for shots.

Now here is the question. Does the OS1 title work if you have more than one weapons disabled token.

Yep. Your weapons are either disabled or they aren't; having multiple tokens doesn't do anything. Much like stress tokens, actually; doesn't matter if you have 1 or 50, the effect is the same.

Also remember:

"Weapons disabled tokens are removed during the End phase algon with focus and evade tokens."

All of them are removed.
