Enforcer Title (define "after defending")

By Khyrith, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Had this come up at the FLGS the last two match nights. We ruled on the conservative side between players, but just to be sure:

If a Kimogila with the Enforcer title is attacked by weapons that require MULTIPLE defense rolls (TLTs, Cluster Missiles...) when does the term "after defending" apply - for the attacker to take the Stress token.? After EACH time the defender rolls defense dice (e.g. TWO stress tokens for being attacked with TLT or CM)... or just after that attack SEQUENCE is resolved (regardless of how many times the defender rolls defense dice)?

This becomes very pertinent in our store as there are two players that run a TLT Ghost with docked shuttle (For the extra TLT at the end of the round). While I would LOVE to see my opponents receive FOUR stress tokens in a single round from taking two TLT shots at my Kimogila while in my bullseye... I'm betting its probably only TWO for that Ghost.

Thanks,

Khyrith

After defending is clearly defined in the FAQ. You are the defender as soon as you have been successfully chosen as a target of an attack, and you are the defender until the entire attack is compleated. For TLT, this means after both 'attacks' have been fully resolved. As such, TLT could only trigger 'after defending' once, but Gunner (which creates a new attack) could trigger twice.

InquisitorM is 100% correct.

A good rule of thumb under the current ruleset: anything that attacks twice should be treated as a single attack for all purposes other than the actual dice rolls. The attack is not complete until both roll and modify steps are on both sides.

Just remember there's an exception to almost every rule.

Follow the flowchart on page 8 of the FAQ .

You're looking for Step 8 in regards to the Enforcer title and Step 9 for Gunner.

Quote

8. Identify abilities that trigger “after attacking” or “after defending” (that do not perform an attack)

i. Resolve abilities of player with initiative

ii. Resolve abilities of other player

9. Identify abilities that trigger “after attacking” or “after defending” that perform an attack (such as BTL-A4 Y-wing, Dengar [ship], Gunner, etc.)

i. Player with initiative chooses 1 of his abilities to resolve

ii. If no ability was chosen in step (i), the other player chooses 1 of his abilities to resolve

iii. Any abilities that were not chosen, are added to the step 9 of the next attack

if you read the steps to find the trigger for "after attacking" you'll notice it also mentions "after defending" in the same sentence. After Attack and Defending are the same timepoint.
