Warrior hero not so tough. . .

By oshfarms, in Battlelore

Awhile back someone posted, either here or on BGG, that his wife had created an uber warrior hero that was decimating the battlefield. I thought I might share my experience playing against my brother in law's hero.

In the first game, he was killed on the first turn by archery. Archers moved into attack range, fired one die, hit and got the critical. Since this was the first time playing with heroes so he was allowed to keep the hero in play. So, the warrior never had a chance to close and was killed with archery again.

Then tonight, we decided to play with a witch's hut. On his first turn he entered the hut and searched. He pulled a trap and sure enough, the warrior was killed. I thought this was kind of funny considering the fear factor of the other post. gran_risa.gif

Ranged attacks can kill Heroes? I think that they cannot be killed with a ranged attack {unless it hits on Bonus Strikes like the Crossbow attack}

I briefly raised an eyebrow to that statement myself. Come to think of it though, there are some scenarios with plenty of longbows, arbalests and crossbows to do the trick.

It just goes to show that no unit in the game is immune to the random nature of a dice throw. Each dice rolled against a hero (assuming it is capable of a crit) has a 1 in 36 chance of taking the hero out. A brand new hero is unlikey to have the benefit of a powerful artifact such as the warding bracer mentioned in the previous post.

It is probably advisable for a new hero to hang out in the rear for a few battles to quietly gather experience, treasure and artifacts before charging off into the fray. There are old heroes and there are bold heroes, but there are very few old bold heroes....
