can i cast healing, directly after someone draws the Magical Vortex card? i had a healing spell and someone draws the Magical Vortex card. can i play the Healing spell before i have to discard all my spells?

Of couse not, otherwise Magical Vortex will have no sense.

The only Spell a Character can play is Alteration (Reaper expansion) that allows you to discard an Adventure card you don't wish to encounter and replace it with another card, that you must encounter.

I would actually allow it, assuming you can legally cast Healing (meaning you're not at full health). Because Druid can change his alignment after seeing the card drawn, but before encountering it, Spells playable at any time to me fall under this category as well. It doesn't make Magical Vortex be of "no effect", since you could have Spells you can only cast in battle, at the start of another player's turn, etc. those would all go away still, since their timing prevents you from casting them.

Then I say that since you're not that fast to cast Healing before you lose your last Life, then you're not fast enough to avoid the Magical Vortex or a Nullify Spell.

And more: if you're forced to randomly discard one Spell (can't remember a card/space with this effect but if there's none there will be soon) and it happens to be Healing, can you cast it before it's discarded? Come on!

I agree with Dam.

There are some things that you can do before you encounter the card that you ( or a other player have drawn.

About the druid is one example.

A other one would be, that you can cast a spell before you activate(encounter) the book of spells.
