The big Clone Wars thread.
Hopefully some news at the hyperspace report in a little over a week!
(Though it will probably just be scum falcon announcement)
What would be a preview without waiting?
Nah, I was thinking about about Tiin's ability, I wasn't comfortable with what's essentially Expose. Do you think it would be too much to give him an extra die for just having a focus token?
PILOTS:
UPGRADES:
The overall idea is that Jedi want to hold to their focus tokens (there will be more cards supporting this in future expansions ).
Delta is meant to be an agile cheap filler/pocket ace, best at medium speeds, as opposed to Eta-2 which is most comfortable going very fast and N-1 which excels at speed 1-2.
For Ahsoka I wanted a support ability that would encourage having her as a wingman, especially for Jedi.
Obi-Wan's ability is based on the chase scene in AotC, where he doesn't care about a hail of laser bolts coming from behind, and I think it would lead to an interesting playstyle where you want to focus on one enemy ship and avoid catching others in your arc.
Tiin, at least in Legends, was Jedi Order's top starfighter pilot, rivaled only by Skywalker, which makes PS9 fitting. As for ability, I'm still not sure.
R4 is designed with Kenobi in mind - shoot at someone and then boost away to clear your arc and get that evade, but obviously it would be strong on basically any ship, in some cases allowing you to attack someone head on and then barrel roll or boost out of arc, denying him a return shot. Maybe it should be more expensive or somehow more limited.
R7 is just a fun idea, no synergy with anything in particular, except that it allows Delta-7 to perform a [1 straight] which is not present on the dial.
Edited by eMeMHey, FFG, where's my Clone Wars factions?
Seriously though I've seen a lot of discussion about Clone Wars stuff in 2.0 and I figured I'd put this back on the front page. Maybe if we start building up some ideas and suggestions for Clone Wars 2.0 stuff, FFG will take notice!
Force and Calculate looks good for Republic and CIS.
I really like almost all of the ships from the prequels, although my favourite faction is Galactic Empire (we totally need republic ships here.)
I look forward to seeing these two factions. I think they are really likely.
Let's have some ideas for how to make big shiny sexy chromey Nabooy royal yachts/shuttles/skiffs/whatevs into awesome X-Wing support ships!

Sadly it is just a model I made in Blender.
As to where are the factions, I'm sure the only reason they aren't announced yet is that they got delayed because of the whole 2.0 thing... and
obviously
the main reason for the creation of 2.0 was devs realising the current X-wing just isn't good enough to support the full glory of the Clone Wars.
That's the spirit everyone! Keep the dream alive!
As soon as I figure out how to create my own template and faction markers and stuff, I'm going to start work on 2.0-ifying my custom cards in here!

They’re also working on perfecting their chrome finish...
To help add fuel to the fire, along with the Clone Wars getting a bigger push in Star Wars Battlefront 2, Funko Pop just came out with a Clone Wars collection. I've been telling people that we're seeing a resurgence of Clone Wars love and I expect it will continue next year with 2 new factions for 2nd edition, probably announced at Gencon next year.

I'm lazy so I'm just waiting for 2.0 Strange Eons :<
Does someone have a good Sepratist icon to throw on custom cards? Or am I stuck with using S&V for now?

If you're comfortable with MS Publisher, I just made this guy and I can probably figure out how to share with you:
Okey dokey, here's my first 2.0-ified card!

Still working on that one!
Seperatist template is complete!
Here's the first one
And then the other two pilots for that ship:
Hopefully they'll also have some ships from between Episodes I and II, and prior.

I think I'd like to see the Swarm Programming be a little more powerful. I'd maybe get rid of the 2 token max, and make it "when a friendly ship at range 0-1 acquires a calculate token" so that it chains. Or, I'd make it "you may spend calculate tokens belonging to friendly ships at range 0-1 as though they were your own".
Is the Vulture supposed to be Tie Fighter/Z95 equivilant, or Awing/Scyk equivilant?
2 hull seems a bit fragile for something that has a TL to fire missiles with- spending points or ordinance seems a bt of a trap given the fragility.
A 10-12 point vulture might have 2 hull, 2 attack/3 agility, Calculate, evade and Barrel roll, and nothing else (besides swarm programming- I favor the "may spend tokens as if they were your own" version) with a better dial than the Tie Fighter.

The Republic has two successor "states", Empire and Rebellion, while the CIS has none.
There is a reasonable argument to be made for both Empire/Republic and Rebels/Republic as the same faction.
- The Republic's army is literally the same army as the Empire's, and this is a wargame. We play with the soldiers, and the soldiers are the same.
- The Rebellion holds the Republic's values, which is while irrelevant in a wargame, the feel of the universe sorta demands these factions to be aligned. Also, several named characters from the Republic era serve the Rebellion (but then again, the head of state is the Empire's)
CIS on the other hand has very little connection to the main factions, but some players feel that the many characters working for the CIS who are scum is a reason to group them together (which is a non-connection, since the best known scum also worked for the Empire, including all the Bounty Hunters, and the whole Mandalorian civilization)
Furthermore, the CIS is even worse of a villain faction than the Empire, with very few characters that could be named pilots, especially if you consider the aforementioned Scum characters to be separate. Their character's are almost exclusively generals, making them a more suitable faction for something like Armada.
With 2.0 and the split between the OT and ST factions the PT factions of the Clone Wars seem much more viable.
I still think that the best way to release the factions would be 1 faction per wave much like how wave 6 which introduced the S&V faction was solely for that faction.
Republic could be cheap ships with a few expensive jedi ships but are more sluggish relying heavily on numbers.
CIS would have a lot of droid ships so calculate over focus but I think they could also be spiced up with blue actions that can remove stress but are disabled if any ion tokens are on them. This would make them seem more robotic like not too effected by high-g but any thing that disrupts electronics really hinders them.
