Ascendency is really, really good. I bought it for my fiance for Christmas, as she likes Catan and thought it may be similar. Little complicated at first, but now we both enjoy it.

That's the biggest barrier to any game I buy. My wife HATES complicated games. The fun must be IMMEDIATE. When it comes to board and card games, she an instant gratification type of girl. It would be less of an issue if I had enough time off to play such a game with friends that also like the same types of board games, but we live just far enough away that we can only hope to get together on weekends, and then we need to try and sync up our schedules for an EVENT.

I get that. It's complicated enough my fiance didn't enjoy it her first game, so its one you have to get used to playing before it really becomes fun.

Those are fantastic, Alpha. You inspired me to try to do the ARC justice with some Republic ARC-170 cards. Although I didn't have time to add a little Republic insignia to the corner.

That's kinda subpar for a gunboat, I think. It's basically a 2 cost primary weapon upgrade that doesn't get range bonuses. Unless I am missing something else here.

Yea I think that cannon needs to be 3 points. Otherwise mangler cannon would be obsolete. Fletchette as well.

Can fire while slamming with the title. Only flechette can do damage currently.

Yeah, you all make sense. I think it's probably smart to make it cost 3.

I just think it would be nice to give this thing a nice new toy to play with with the GUNBOAT, since anyone who buys these new ARCs will want to buy some GUNBOATS for the Linked Batteries. Maybe add at the end "if this attack is at range 3, the defender may roll one additional die"?

So, the V-19 Torrent. Ideas?

I was thinking maybe an attack of 3 and agility of 1, like other "heavy fighters". It has two concussion missile launchers, each holding six missiles, so it could be justified as having as many as two missile slots and/or having the reload action.

The true forte of the V-19 however was its speed and maneuverability. I think it would be perfectly reasonable to give this ship every single "normal" move on a dial as well as the boost action. It would probably be difficult and/or impossible to do a K-Turn or S-Loop in this ship. I think if I were to design it I'd do something like this for the dial (pardon my back-of-the-napkin style of design here):
