The big Clone Wars thread.

Fair enough.

More on the original topic: I only recently got into the Clone Wars. It took me a few years to get through the first season because I was relentlessly mocking it (mostly General Grievous.) And then, I found out it was on Netflix, and binged through the rest of it. After a while, the show began to grow on me (but Grievous never redeemed himself) and I wanted more by the time I got to the end. So I started watching Rebels on my tablet, before Disney messed all that up while I was in the middle of S1E9. (I am still waiting on my local X-wing buddy to loan me his Seasons of the show.)

I would likely buy plenty of CW era ships, because I happen to find them pretty cool. Nubians, N-1s, V-19s, Actis, Aethersprites, LAATs, Hyenas, Vultures: all cool ships that I would likely purchase.

If you like Clone Wars there are two more arcs, each with four episodes, that you can watch that are canon, they aren't completed but they are up on Starwars.come for free. They have final voice work done but lack completed animation. I'd recommend them if you are interested.

Getting started on some ideas here. Here's my idea for the base vulture droid, with many ideas taken from Odanan. (Thanks, Odanan!) Note that I have also used (stolen) the idea of a "program" upgrade, as a way to give droids a unique mechanic. Working on those upgrades now.

Here's the higher-PS generic Vulture Droid.

Next, the lower-PS named pilot.

Finally, the ace.

Lore-wise, there's a few slots these need to have. I decided to make that a title so that there could be a little more modularity with squadbuilding.

The most famous Separatist Missile. Here's also the rules for a Buzz Droid Token.

And, to round out the Vulture Droid Expansion Pack, here's the last Program upgrade.

So for 26 points you get a ps 7 ace with PTL and AT, and a really bad statline, and no ability to use focus.

Yeah it's immune to stress, and has a really good dial, but it's still not a big bang for your buck.

I'd much rather take Mauler Mithel or Scourge.

I mean, for 100 points, you could get eight three-dice attacks that can't get PS-killed if you defend the ace properly. I felt like there were probably cases where everyone getting Fel's Wrath's ability for free could be game-breaking.

So I looked up Attack Wing for comparison. It appears it has four main factions, and then a ton of sub factions. So adding 2 new factions to this game wouldn't be that big a deal I'm sure.

I've brought this up many times in the past, but if FFG is dead set on keeping 3 main factions in the game, then rebels should change to light side, and imperials should change to dark side. Scum stays as is. Then light side could have rebels, resistance, and republic as subfactions. Dark side would have empire, first order, and CIS as subfactions. That's how many mult-era star wars games work currently so there is precedent.

I think 5 factions (or 7 if they ever branch off the ST ones) would be more fun though. Especially at competitive events to really mix up what you get to play against.

Continuing to use Attack Wing as a comparison, they have ships spread across three centuries in play at the same time, everything from ENT to late Nemesis. No more hostile to lore/immersion than having two fleets of Federation ships shooting at each other. Adding two more factions from a couple of decades back is certainly no worse than this, or even what X-Wing already has with the ST crap.

For those mentioning the time difference/lack of themed battles possible with Republic vs Empire or Republic vs Rebel.... That would be a totally legit reason to not allow Clone War ships.... If every ship from TFA and TLJ wasn't already in the game.

And if mirror matches weren't a thing.

Yeah, Attack Wing...
seriously, have any of you tried to play no casually that abomination?
you know you can use any pilot in any ship (yeah pay extra points, but does not change one bit)

or really, creating a new mechanic for upgrades (and not a gameplay mechanic), sure, we need another illicity type, but for droids!

I mean, really, whats the problem of refits for all ships from prequel era, reintroducting them in the new factions?

I am all for new ships, but i find the lack of sobriety confusing

c'mon

So, just wanted to say to a number of the people who have posted so far...

You know that if you don't like Clone Wars you don't have to be here, right?

I don't mean that as an offense, I just mean that I feel like we've had enough of these "my Star Wars is better than your Star Wars!!!" fights on these forums. My plan here was to create a thread where people who do like Clone Wars can talk about what that would look like. And if that means that there's a grand total of five of us posting in here, and that "big Clone Wars thread" means it reaches like ten pages over the course of the next year, I'm fine with that.

Yes, I have played Attack Wing. I enjoyed it. It has its flaws, but enjoying it was what got me to try X-Wing in the first place.

What? I really can't tell what you're trying to say here, or what side of the argument you're trying to come down on, if any.

You are forgetting the golden rule of Star Trek Games:

If it is a Star Trek Game*, it's not any fun**

*Except for Star Trek: Starfleet Command
**Only applies to the computer game unless you also like farming simulators

Star Trek Ascendancy is pretty good, aside from the long time it took to get the first expansions for the game.

I instantly regret this tangent.

I'd be willing to play, but I am not yet willing to drop 50-50 Bones on this, since I doubt I would get to play this very often.

Hey! Don't go distracting us with Star Trek! The only thing more divisive on a Star Wars Forum than the prequels is showing one's love for Star Trek!
