22MAR is a loooong ways away...

Edit: I must say the one thing i am slightly pissed about is this may be our only speeder bike article and it didn't reveal the one hidden card that's a true mystery.....

FFG posted an individual Stormtrooper article, this was just an article about the Imperial side of the Core box. I expect a stand alone Speeder article, Rebel side of the Core box article, a Rebel Trooper article, and an AT-RT article. We may also see the articles about wave 2, even though they are (according to the Spanish site) likely due in April for Imperial expansions and May for Rebel expansions.

<Sarcasm>Then one about the each color and size of dice, one about each movement marker, and eventually one for each page of the rule book</Sarcasm>

FFG definitely missed it with the timing, in the past 7 days there have been 4 articles released. They are going to have to scale way back on the amount of articles released per week and that will kill the hype.

Makes you wonder if an earlier date wasn't on the table and had to be changed for reasons that we'll never know.

Star Wars fans getting bent out of shape because the reality of something didn’t match what they had in their head? Never...

It annoys me they are holding back the core set just to release it alongside all of wave 1. I'd be content working with the core set itself for a few weeks.

Because it pressures people to buy a core box that they don't want to buy. They did it with all their previous miniature games and it is horrible playing essentially a demo of a game until the 2 months or so for the first wave to come out.

Especially when the core box doesn't even have enough points of minis to make a full game.

Edit: AND the first wave is almost entirely just models already in the Core game.

SOOOO much this^. I'm pretty sure it's one of the lessons they learnt with runewars and armada, The Wave 1's took way too long to get into the wild and it really hurt the take up.

Also, on the plus side it means we get it just in time to have it quick painted for or over the easter break and overload on it

I’m wondering if the game will have any official presence at PAX East. Probably not a big one if the official release is a few weeks ahead of the event.

I definitely expect to see it at Pax Tabletop.

Hope so. This is my first wargame so while I don’t remember seeing terrain setup for other games at previous PAX Easts, I also wasn’t looking. They definitely had wargame space at PAX Unplugged last year.

I, for one, is happy the game is a bit off. Gives me a few parsecs more to prepare, and perhaps save up a bit extra money to get maybe an expansion or two as I pick up the core :)

edit:

Oh wait, I forgot that the x-wing Raider is back in stock....Never mind :(

I’m skipping on the Raider to play Legion. Buying just the core set for now to have small skirmishes with my friends, then slowly work on the army.

The problem isn't that they finally gave us a release date. But I can totally understand why someone would be a bit confused and dismayed at it. I, too, am in the same situation. Adepticon has several events for Legion already planned and FFG is working with the staff to get this game hyped. Thursday, March 22, and Friday March 23 there is a Legion Core Box tournament. I just checked and Friday is sold out and Thursday has 6 openings. There is no way we (and the other 59+ players) can really get their core box to the convention. Many of us pre ordered and will have to have our game and expansions shipped (myself included).

Now, I'm not going to rage quit over this. I am already invested. I love Star Wars and this game not only appeals to me but looks like so much fun. An Adepticon launch is a messy situation especially when you have many events (there are more than just those two I listed) that require you to have your Core Set and you have no way of getting it in time. That's just poor marketing for a minority of those who registered.

About the only thing that I can see that will help would be if FFG gave free copies of the core set to all those who registered for these events.. at a minimum; much like they did with RuneWars last year (although that was freely given to everyone who paid for VIP and Special tickets).

I am hoping that something will be announced soon for those of us who registered. In the meantime... I can focus on my Warhammer Age of Sigmar army and not worry about prepping any Star Wars models for Adepticon.

If it is a core box only tournament, could they be providing the armies to use at the con? Not to keep, but just for the event.

Sid the Sloth, new head of FFG logistics, having replaced Padro the Donkey, should be having serious job security worries. This is a long time on the boat Sid!

While this could be possible, the Event overview specifically stated to bring your own Core Set. On Saturday, there is a large Legion event where you get paired with another player who has brought their own Core Set and decide who plays what faction and allow the other player to use those models from your set.. in order to get a full 800 points standard games in. It really is a neat way to do it.. but again.. how are we going to get our Core Sets? It's a bit frustrating at this moment.. but there is still time to do *something*.

The later date in Q1 is not awesome yet I feel better knowing I can anticipate having it on a specific day. No guessing. No pestering my local game shop holding my pre-order. No checking my Twitter TL. And a due date for being ready to paint and not have any other major time commitments besides work.

After having the day to think about it not all bad.

KalEl814 report to the Imperial Security Bureau for a conformity evaluation and reconditioning.

Now that FFG have excitedly reported the immanent release date perhaps the Learn to Play or Rules in General could be posted up, please?

Probably not until a week before release. Don't want people getting TOO familiar with the rules before the game comes out after all!

Though given the proximity to Adepticon, and the planed Legion events there we might get it earlier than that.

Who knows? There hasn't really been much rhyme or reason to their preview articles that I can see so, only they know. Maybe.

When I saw all the Legion specific events on the Adepticon 2018 list I knew that would be when they released. I mean they will have everything from painting to strategy sessions to Core Only Gaming Sessions and many more. This was going to be the big reveal so everyone would get their orders and a lot news of the event would come at the same time with plenty of YouTube videos I am sure. No big deal, plenty of other things to do in the meantime.

That is a lousy situation. If you have to buy a copy there to play it's even worse. I'm interested to see how this plays out.
