Armada Q4 kit at Outflank Games, CA

We had a Q4 tournament last Saturday in Norcal. It was super fun with a decent turnout. 4 imps and two rebels. Here is a recap of my games and some of the lists I faced. https://themightyhedgehogarmada.wordpress.com/

Armada Q4 kit at Outflank Games

We had a Q4 tournament at my local store last Saturday. Here is a Batrep for the games I played.

I took a 2 activation dual ISD list. I wanted to try something fun and challenging. This definitely fit that bill. I took inspiration from the Gencon list and made it slightly different. I put ABT on one and used the other as the carrier with Motti. The squads are a list of some of my favorites. Wasn’t sure if they actually work that well together, I hadn’t tried them out. It seemed to go ok though. Initially I thought I wouldn’t need as big a bid but the night before I changed my mind and went with 17 points. It proved to be perfect. This is the list.

Name: TheMightyHedgehog
Faction: Imperial
Commander: Admiral Motti

Imperial I (110), Admiral Motti (24) Flight Controllers (6) Boosted Comms (4) = 144 Points
Imperial I (110) Boarding Troopers (3) Leading Shots (4) Avenger (5) = 122 Points
Squadrons: Ciena Ree (17) Darth Vader (21) Major Rhymer (16) Maarek Stele (21) Morna Kee (27) Zertik Strom (15) = 117 Points

Total Points: 383

The first game I played was against Sam. His list was a Motti ABT with demo and a few Gozantis with Valen/Cienna. I outbid him by 2 points and chose to go first. We played contested outpost and for the firist three turns I just inched forward and nothing happened as he raked in the outpost points. Turn four I got ABT off on his isd and did a mediocre damage. He waited on activating his isd in favor of getting a demo shot off, which ended up being just out of range. Motti then went and used all the bombers and a few medium shots to finish off the isd. I then ran from demo and got the last two turns of contest outpost. I won with an 8-3

Gozanti Cruisers (23) Comms Net (2) = 25 Points
Squadrons: Ciena Ree (17) Valen Rudor (13) = 30 Points

Total Points: 385

Game two I played Chris. He had two vics with gunnery teams and dcaps and one fully loaded isd2 with Jerry. We played station assault. I sent my fighters out to wipe out Valen/Cienna and then start bombing stations. ABT took out a vic in two turns while Motti peppered the station and took a beating from the ISDII. Both stations died along with a vic. Motti had was almost dead and Chris had his ISDII with some shield damage. He could have killed Motti and disengaged and and played to a 6-5 loss. He chose to go after both ISD’s. He ended up losing his ISD to the bombers. I got an 8-3 out of it.

Game three I played against Aaron with a Dodonna Yavaris acehole list. This was the one list I did not want to play against. I again was first and we played precision strike. We both forgot about the objective until the last round. I played super cautiously and waited until our fighters were almost in range of each other. I purposely chose not to activate because I wanted to fight under my ISD’s flak range. I got this kinda wrong and the initial engagement was only in blue range. I was able to hit Wedge with Morna at the end of the round and then follow up with a mean alpha strike of Vader, Rhymer, and Morna to take out Wedge. I used Cienna and Maarek to take out Jan before she could activate. I took some heavy Yavaris hits but didn’t lose any squads that round. The rest of the games we traded squads. I took out bright hope and Yavaris, and left his liberty with like two health. Turn 6 he took out ABT turn 6 with exactly the damage he needed. The last turn I remembered precision strike and got three victory tokens to Aaron’s one. This won me the game by 8 points. I won 6-5 and won the tournament.

Final Thoughts.

Wow, two activations is difficult, but it made the games go super fast. I finished all games in just over an hour. I definitely think I need more practice with this list and I might vary the squads up. It was super fun but quite difficult to play.
