Tree Talent questions

By Taigon first, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

The source books arent really clear on this.

1. If a talent is able to be "activated" multiple times that just means that it is upgrede purchaseable multiple times correct?

2. How many times within 1 tree can a talent be upgrade purchased when it is able to be purchased multiple times? The reason I ask is some trees share the same talents but there are less in some trees than others. So if a tree has a one or two talents how many times can it be purchased more than that one or two times within that tree or only the amount of times that it is in that one tree? Or can you purchase additional upgrades once you reach the last listed same talent within that tree at the XP cost of that last talent within that same tree?

I'm not sure if I understand your question. I THINK you are asking if you can purchase talents in a tree multiple times.

You can only purchase each talent box once, and only when you have reached it in the tree, starting at the 5 xp level and following lines to new talents. If a talent appears multiple times in a tree, you may purchases it that many times. Each time it is purchased, it is considered a rank.

If you want more ranks of a talent than exist in your spec tree, you need to purchase another, different spec.

TheSapient is correct. If I remember correctly, I think there is a big table in the Core Rulebook that shows all the specs that have a particular talent. If there is one you know you would like more of you can narrow your search for a new spec using that table.

There are two kinds of talents: Ranked and Unranked.

Ranked talents can be taken multiple times, and improve their benefits the more ranks you have. For example, Parry and Reflect let you ignore more damage per use the more ranks you have in each. There's a notation somewhere that shows the difference at a glance on the table, but I'm not sure what it is, but they'll usually, in the description, note "per rank of <Talent Name> you possess," or something similar.

Unranked talents have no ranks, once you have the Talent you have it. If that same Talent appears in another tree, and you buy access to that tree, you have it purchased in Tree Two if you've already Purchased it in Tree One. For example, Falling Avalanche from the Shien tree also appears in the Armorer Tree from Keepers of the Peace (Guardian Sourcebook). It's also one "tier" higher in Armorer than Shien, so you can buy it for cheaper in the Armorer Tree than in the Shien Tree.

There are two other divisions of talents: Active and Passive. Passive Talents always provide their benefit, Active Talents must be Activated. Some Active Talents can be activated more than once per round, paying whatever costs associated with them each time. For example, Parry and Reflect again. You can use those talents as often as there are incoming melee or ranged attacks against you, but you have to pay the strain cost each time you activate them.
