Gypsey Too OP

By 00Ripley00, in Talisman

I played the new Talisman a few times and seen it played a few times and the Gypsey was played a few times and the common complaint is she is Over Powered .

Also one question about her ability exp: If some one countered or redirected one of her spells can she then take that discarded spell and redirect or counter the counter or redirect

i say no but dosent say anything in the rules about that

if she can play the discarded spells as there played then its broken

It's strange that such an issue wasn't raised before, I might have missed it in the forum.

Generally speaking, Gypsy could take a Spell that's just been put on the discard pile and use it immediately, provided she has at least one other Spell at the start of the current Turn. You cannot cast more Spells that the number you have at the start of a Turn, so if you have 0 Spells you acquire one and must wait the next Turn to use it. Moreover, if it's another players' Turn, you still have a limit of one Spell cast in such Turns. Looks like there are no other limitations to Gypsy's use of acquired Spells.

What about Counterspell/Reflection... well, I think a Counterspell is put on the discard pile when it has taken effect or has been properly neutralized/discarded, just like any other Spell. When Gypsy takes Spells from the discard pile, the effects of those Spells have been fully solved. So I agree with you and say "no" to this awful practice regarding Counterspells and analogous Spells.gui%C3%B1o.gif

Gypsy is not overpowered, at least she never looked so in my games, perhaps because she was never played properly. But she's a Character whose presence greatly changes the game, since you have to pay attention to which Spells do you cast and when!

Hi

I quite agree with Ripley.

I think we are so used to play card games that when we play talisman cards we want to see comlplex order rules where there is only an easy way to resolve the situation.

I only want to add that maybe Gipsy is not overpowered but when sombodey play with her she is as annoying fot other people as funny to that player.

Gypsy is one of the best characters for us, 6-5 after 11 appearances. If you're not familiar with my stats, we play 3-player, so each game sees 1 win and 2+ losses (characters who die during a game still get a loss marked in their stats). Only other characters with a winning record are Ogre Chieftain and Warlock, so that puts the Gypsy in the top-3 as far as best characters go. I do feel she is heavily influenced by what other characters are in the game with her. Get a Gypsy vs Troll vs Warrior game and I wouldn't put any money on her. But give her Druid and Warlock as opponents, you better watch out. Both of those character excel at spell-cycling, looking for the best Spells, but with the Gypsy out there, they have to proceed with caution, knowing any Spell they use can and/or will be in the Gypsy's possession.

thanks guys i appreciate all the imput :)
