Ready, Scum, Ace! (Click this link) (<- (Yet Another) Squad builder)

So i wanted to make a list that had some scum aces without including the overused Fenn Rau... No in reality I just own him :P .

It includes, Talonbane & Andrew (N'dru) & Dengar

Give me feedback, share your own scum aces, or just say hi!

Its really hard to make a 3 ace list with Dengar (And dont think he counts as an ace but for in this post I will refer to him as one), as aces are usually 30 ish points ish, and with dengar ur spending 50+ on one, I'd say it better to have two extremly loaded Aces (Dengar + Fenn/Talonbane) which honestly I wouldnt recomend, putting so many points on ships that can die if they roll bad isnt a good idea, so I would advise having two decently equiped Aces and a filler, of course these only apply if you want to use Dengar. If you want to use dengar and Talon, here's what I would use:

Dengar (33)
Expertise (4)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Punishing One (12)

Talonbane Cobra (28)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Harpoon Missiles (4)
Glitterstim (2)
Guidance Chips (0)
Munitions Failsafe (1)
Vectored Thrusters (2)
Vaksai (0)

Sunny Bounder (14)
"Light Scyk" Interceptor (-2)

Total: 97

Dengar is the traditional K4 + Expertise because that combo is so strong and it allows for alot of versatility in play. Talonbane is built to kinda hunt ps10/11 he has a harpoon for a first engange salvo and a glitter for the second engage where he will jump to range 1 and TL if he has arc or BR if he doesnt or isnt in range 1 yet, and shoot five dice. Sunny is your blocker and filler. Above all that you have a healthy 3 point bid.

But as I have a bad experience with Kiraxhzs, and have been loving flying thweek, this is what I would if I had to make a list with ace + dengar:

Dengar (33)
Expertise (4)
K4 Security Droid (3)
Countermeasures (3)
Punishing One (12)

Sunny Bounder (14)
"Light Scyk" Interceptor (-2)

Thweek (28)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autothrusters (2)
StarViper Mk. II (-3)
Virago (1)

Total: 97

Dengar is the same but with some extra help agaisnt ordnance, sunny is still your blocker, but now you have an arcdodger isntead of a sledge hammer, which usually I'd prefer the hammer but not when its made of glass. You still have the same big bid that can actually be bigger if you remove Countermeasures for something cheaper.

Now, as far as scum aces go, my favourite way to use them is two aces + bumpmaster, so I've been playing with this list and its really strong:

Contracted Scout (25)
Intimidation (2)
Intelligence Agent (1)
EMP Device (2)
Anti-Pursuit Lasers (2)

Thweek (28)
Fire-Control System (2)
Autothrusters (2)
StarViper Mk. II (-3)
Virago (1)

Fenn Rau (28)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Concord Dawn Protector (1)

Total: 96

This list is really strong and fun, but scary to use since one bad roll and your almost dead, although the scout helps with that by controlling the battlefield and denying modifiers and helping the aces pack an even stronger punch. You also have the almost over-kill bid to make sure thweek steals ps. (Fenn can easily be replaced by Talonbane, although I think fenn is better. Teroch can also replace Thweek (or fenn) and be used as well as pretty much any other pilot). Hope any of this rambling helped.

Ace List . Here is a few changes I made to your original list. Talonbane became a little more maneuverable, Dengar is helpful with those Cybernetics everyone has and N'dru is at PS 9 with the other two.

So this is indeed a good working Lite-version of Super Dengar no?

I've seen multiple people fly either Dengar with

  • VI, Recspec, P1 and EU
  • PTL, Recspec,P1 EU

are these inferior/superior/equeal and why? Also which of the two variations I gave is stronger?

Ready, Scum, Ace v.2

So this is v.2 with 'Ace' Dengar, Fat Cobra and a filler Sunny Bounder. (heavy influence from @DanteStorm , thanks for the tips and suggestions!)

Let me know what you think! I have taken the previous tips in high regard, but currently I do not own a StarViper (ok yes I do, but not Xizor), a Protectorate or Expertise...

The dengar build I submitted is, for me, the best one and the most fun one. It allows you to do a ton of things, as long as you do a green maneuver, you can bump (either because you got blocked or bumped on purpose to avoid shots) and still have full mods for attack, it leaves your action open to barrel roll and still have mods, or focus and use it for defense, it also allows you to have a focus for both attacks. It basically lets you to have full attack mods without the need for actions, which is the problem with both Dengar builds you presented, if he bumps he will hit like a wet lettuce unless you get lucky on dice. Before Expertise I use to run Lone wolf dengar with RecSpec, agro and glitter and the title of course, and the glitter is important for when you are bumped as you can actually have mods that round, but I think Exp/K4 is much better. Out of the two lists you pointed out... Im not a major fan of either, but I think I'd prefer the second, so you can have 2 focus + TL, but maybe I'd switch recon to k4, which goes well with PTL because you'll want to perform a green manouver and it allows you to TL + Focus + Roll/Boost, etc, although stressing yourself means you cant sloop or you won't have actions. I'd also consider Lone Wolf/Predator with Recspec as it allows you to have reroll + focus on each shot. Another option I have yet to try is Maul+Wired+Cybernetic. Dengar is an extremely versatile and strong pilot (and one of my favorites) and lots of combos work on him, it then is a matter of preference, although some builds are stronger than others. Hope any of this helps, some for my rambling, if you need clarification just say.
