Boarding Action
Boarding is a special way to attack a ship. The attacking ship must have the Boarding Icon (a door with a cutting star). Only Large and Huge ships may be boarded.
The action is resolved as is typical for an attack: a comparison of Attack Dice vs. Defense Dice. In this case, however, the attacking ship has Attack Dice equal to its PS/2 (rounded up), and the defending ship has Defense Dice equal to its PS/2 (rounded up). The Defending ship also adds 1 Defense die per equipped crew upgrade.
To perform a Boarding Action, the Defending ship must be Ionized, and the Attacking ship must be in base-to-base contact with it. This does not count as a bump for the Attacking ship. The Attacking ship cannot be Stressed.
Boarding Commander (crew, 1 point): You may change Focuses to Hits when Boarding
Boarding Crew (crew, 1 point): You may add 1 Attack die to a Boarding Attempt.
Zero-G Stormtroopers (crew, 2 points): You may add 2 Attack dice to a Boarding Attempt.
Intruder Countermeasures (mod, 0 points): You may change Focuses to Evades when being Boarded
Even I Get Boarded Sometimes (EPT, -2 point): -3 to PS when being Boarded
Boarding Grapnel (Cannon, 1 point): Attack 3, Range 1. On a hit, cancel all attack Dice and move into base-to-base contact with the target ship. You must perform a free Boarding Action.
If the attack is successful, the ship is successfully boarded. The Defender treats the ship is Destroyed, but it is not removed from the table. It is a derelict; treat it as an obstacle for the rest of the game.
If the attack fails, the Boarders are repelled. The Attacking ship is Stressed, and must discard 1 crew card. The attacker rolls 1 Attack Die. On a crit, the Defender chooses 1 crew upgrade to discard, if applicable.
If it is a tie, neither ship sets a maneuver dial for the next turn, and the Boarding attempt is repeated.
