I'm not sure... Norra's ability doesn't say " Attack: " At the start of it, so it's not an attack instructing you to spend a focus, it's a pilot ability.

But if you were to play it against me, I'd totally allow it, because you're investing a ton of points into that one specific trick.

No, it is not an attack instructing you to spend a TL - it is an option. Otherwise, Deadeye would allow you to spend a focus to re-roll dice.

"An attack" is anything that has the Attack: header. Norra's ability does not have the header, so it is not "an attack"; it merely triggers while attacking.

If this combo worked, it'd be hilarious with Recon Specialist though.

I don't think so. Obviously the first block of text on Deadeye won't apply, but the second block refers to an attack instructing you to discard the target lock, not an ability. I think some people are getting hung up on the first block of text, when really there are two separate effects going on here. I just think neither of them work.

Yeah, I’d have to echo what’s been said. If Deadeye said something like “when a game effect instructs you...” then it would definitely work; but Norra’s ability is not an attack. It’s just something you use when attacking. (Put another way: you don’t say “alright, Combat phase, I’m gonna have Norra use her ability.” You say “alright, Norra’s attacking. Three crits, and now I’m gonna use her ability to add another.”)

How cow that genius.

But probably doesn't work.

I know. I read it and my first instinct was to fix it, but then I had the same feels.

^For those that don't have the time to exclaim, "How now brown cow!" We're all busy people and that's more dipthongs than a Sisqó music video.

Trimming it down is the right call.

I think there's a non-trivial case that a standard primary weapon attack might count as "an attack" for Deadeye, but there's something about it which kinda rubs me the wrong way. I mean, Deadeye doesn't explicitly specify a secondary weapon. But still.

I'm like 10-15% it works, 85-90% it doesn't.

I don't agree with the argument that it should (likewise, Deadeye to reroll dice), but I totally feel like there's a rational argument on the other side. There's many rules questions where that's not the case.

So Deadeye clearly has two components, the first one, which is not relevant and the second one.

For me, the big question is does Norra's ability count as an "...an attack instructs you to spend a target lock...". This is what breaks the interaction because there's no way Norra's ability is an attack. If it just said "When you are instructed to spend a target lock..." which the wording on Extra Munitions, I think it would actually work, but Deadeye is actually specific about what has to be instructing you, which Norra's ability is clearly not unless there's something weird I'm not seeing.

My first instinct was no, no way, not a chance, that's not what Deadeye's for at all.

But then re-reading the card I'm not quite as 100%. Even if it doesn't work, nice spot OP.

Ah, Mr. Jeff, you win the internet today! I am still smiling...thank you!

Meh, oh well, just trying to get her in a wookiee squad for pennies on the dollar

Sorry no can do. Although I would liek to see a dead eye recon APT build on Nora. Tag your hit take 4-6 hits.

I also don‘t think „an effect while attacking“ is the same as „an attack“

But it‘s a fun one and wouldn‘t hurt (or would it?!)

Sorry, but Norra 's ability isn't an an attack, it's an ability. Deadeye doesn't interact with it.

I mean, by this logic Deadeye would let you spend a focus to reroll your attack dice.

Literally the only phrase that matters here is “when an attack /instructs/ you to spend a target lock.” Spending a TL to reroll dice is a choice not an instruction. Even her card says you /may/ spend it, which is also not an instruction. Any card that says you have to spend a target lock to attack is where this comes into play.

Close, but no jank.

What about spending a lock from targeting synchronizer for Norra’s ability?

imho

The sole reason why the second part is on this card, is to explain what happens when the missile/torp/attack using TL 's text asks you to spend a TL to shoot it.

what you are trying to squize out of this elaborate detective work wouldn't make much sence as well imho...

You may spend a focus to add 1 eyeball... then try to use rey or some other focus storage to alter these eyeballs to a hit... spending two focus a turn.

so 2 focus needed a turn to push these limits... you'd never get it working econmy wise imho... but hey, it's worth trying.

Recon specialist? What's not working about that?

Pretty expensive imo. But no need to think about it. It s a no go anyway

PtL and BB-8 is cheaper and still effective. Rey crew also works; it’s not great, but you could literally do Rey, Adaptability, and that’s it.
