Contraband Cybernetics Experiences

Is anyone using this card with any frequency? When I first saw it, I thought it'd be a great thing to have, but I haven't picked up the expansion with it yet.

I was just wondering if it's been worth having and using for those who have built squads with it. Good card? Bad card? Or just middle-of-the-road/situational card?

It can be a real boost for the Kihraxz, that's for sure. Imagine firing off a Cruise Missile with Deadeye after pulling a 5-K-turn...

Its a failsafe pick. For 1pt you arent really losing out if you never need it, but being able to 4k and focus up while stressed CAN very easily be the reason you won a match in the right scenario.

My friend uses it alot and he usually goes 2-3 games without ever touching it, but then when he does its the main reason he managed to pull ahead and still win.

I see this most useful on ships that can perform a 5k and the Quadjumper. Equip a Jakku Gunrunner with the Tractor Array, Pattern Analyzer, Vizago and Cloaking Device and swap the Cloaking device to Contraband Cybernetics after Cloaking with Vizago. I know the Quadjumper isn't exactly "competitive," but this is a step towards it being more relevant at 21 pts with all that.

I've seen it on Kimogilas and it's flippin nasty.

It worked quite nicely in the game I used it on Dalan Oberos (Starviper). Allowed me to do 2 S-loops in a row whilst still focussing and helped me finish off a TIE/fo.

I'd say its a situational card that can become a good card if you pick the right moment to use it, or build a trick around it like the K-turn missile Kihraxz.

It has won me games against good players and lists in a could-be-better-but-not bad list of Talonbane, Bumpmaster (both Mindlinked), Thweek list. The ability to K-turn 4 or 5 and get F+TL on a 5-dice shot even starting stressed is game-changing. Similarly, the ability to crazy-BR after a S-loop is incredibly -- obviously situationally -- useful. IMO, it's not quite as strong as Glitterstim, but it's much more flexible, and for only 1 point it's at least as good an Illicit card.

Might wanna re-read Viperdalan's ability.

Contrabands doesnt give you permission to ignore "If you are not stressed" clauses in general, only red moves and actions. Dalan states if you are not stressed you may use his ability (otherwise you could on demand change his move to a red to do a 2white forward, because you just suddenly tried to do a red move while stressed after you realized your green move was a bad idea)

A friend of mine runs 2 kimogilias with deadeye, contraband cybernetics, harpoon missiles, and extra munitions. Fire off 2 harpoons, k turn and fire 2 more. Brutal to play against.

He stated he did two sloops in a row. Dalen could have easily done normal Segnor's Loops here, and in this case he just did it twice in a row.

Heck, give him Adrenaline Rush, and you could sloop three times in a row if you really wanted to!

Yeah, just to confirm, I used the S-loops he had on his dial without using the pilot ability to change it to a Talon-roll.

right, nvm i derped lol. His ability is indeed a talonroll so clearly you didnt use his ability.

The amount of people i have to correct on dalan w/ contrabands kinda made me go auto-pilot for a moment. Mahbad lol

It falls into the same category as Dampeners. It's a great trick, especially if it's late enough in day that fatigue starts kicking in and your opponent forgets you have it. The fact that you can use it while stressed makes it very handy, and probably a good pick for Bossk.
