Does Bail have to be deployed at the start of the game?

I don't disagree about this being a silly hill to die on, but RLB B-Wing AF2 is also a (non-trivial) thing. Especially with Leia as a commander.

Put three B-Wings in the RLB, and add Keyan and Norra (and a HWK for intel) to be set aside in hyperspace. Drop the AF2. Dial up squadron. Leia gives you four squadrons to activate. Watch as Norra-boosted 3 B-Wings + Keyan melt the ISD's shields. 5 Black, 3 Blue, followed by 5 Red, 1 Blue from the AF2. If Toryn and BCC are nearby, yikes!

And watch how you target is just flying away, because he is first player :P.

Could you please come back to the discussion with Bail and using his effect out of play? My popcorn is ready, and this is way better than any movie right now.

But this discussion was about putting Bail on the AF2...So you would get to act first after dropping it out of hyperspace.

Bail is Medium-Large; HA is Small-Medium. Which is what makes this such a silly hill to die on, because it literally only applies to the AF2 right now.

And activating an AF2 first out of hyperspace is... I mean, it's nice, but it's no MC75, or double-side-arcing MC30T, or RLB B-wing MC80.

Just for the record, I'm definitely not dying on this hill. The combined requirements narrowing it down to only a Medium (only the trusty AF2 at the moment) is a good catch, but the premise remains the same, in that I don't interpret that Bail can be utilized if his ship is deployed in Hyperspace, nor do I think it's "good" for the meta (though I'm not saying it would "kill" the game either, an all-too-common phrase in this community).
