Hey guys. How does new Finn's special work? What comprises a card? Can it be moved from Finn? Can the damage be moved to another character? Can it be moved to the opponent's character? Or does it have to be moved to a battlefield, support, ect....? Sorry if this has been answered already. I just check the rules on moving and they are wonky. The way they read it make Draw Attention sound amazing like it you move damage to a character they do not take damage. What is the difference in moving damage and taking damage? I thought I understood all the rules.
Edited by DJRAZZQuestion about new Finn.
Card is any card, yours or an opponents. I suppose you could move it to a non character card, but that only makes sense for a card that interacts with damage on it in someway, like that battlefield I can't recall the name of at the moment.
Moving damage ignores shields according to the rules reference, pg. 21. And the character is not considered to have taken damage, which may be important if some ability triggers upon taking damage.
Edited by dhowtocorA couple non character dice that you can move damage from/to are things like backup muscle, a suppression field, a resistance bomber, a drop zone, etc. It’s obviously situational, but moving one damage to an opponent’s suppression field to kill it before they remove a dice showing three or four could be a clutch play. Or draining an opponent’s backup muscle right after they play it could really be demoralizing to them. Most the time it’s just a free repeatable willpower, but it can have some interesting interactions with some cards.
I kind of want to build a deck in which Finn moves damage to Con Artist for big mills. But Con Artist is Yellow only, making the set-up difficult.
Legacies expands a little used concept in the prior 3 sets of placing damage tokens on cards to represent different things. Finn lets you play with that mechanic in new ways, with surprising results. Some examples:
The obvious: Heal your own characters while dealing damage to your opponent. A potential 4hp swing per turn is not a bad deal.
You can use your opponent's Backup Muscle damage tokens against their own characters. Another double whammy, as it means you're not taking Guavian Death Squad lumps.
As mentioned, you can mess with Con Artist...taking damage on your characters to make your own Con Artist more potent, or taking damage from your opponent's Con Artist and turning into damage on their characters.
And Legacies introduces a number of supports that use damage on them: Bubble Shield, Suppression Field, Modified HWK, Resistance Bomber: You can use Finn to manipulate the damage on these cards.
Thanks guys. So Drop Zone, which I thought would, can have damage put on it without the battlefield being claimed? How did we know this for sure?
Drop Zone cannot have damage put onto it normally unless you claim. You can put damage on it if someone instructs you to anyway.
Heck Finn can technically assign damage to random cards where it has no effect. Why on earth you'd do that instead of just putting it on character cards is beyond me.

Hey Chewie ;-)
Yoda, Finn2, & Jedha Partisan should work. It's only 3 dice, but it works to get good sync IMO with their dice.

Maybe we'll get a card called Remote Detonator: Exhaust this card to remove all damage tokens from an upgrade or support. Then, deal that damage to a character.

This was the second deck I built for Legacies -- I found I had a really hard time setting it up before my Yellow character was in lethal range. Since Con Artist and Cunning are both Yellow only, and if I'm digging with my mulligan and spending resources on Second Chance to keep her up, I'm not setting up the Con Artist combo.

I could see matchups where you think you need to play around a potential Willpower but survive the turn to mill an opponent with an undamaged character out on a game that got long and defensive. Taking damage of your character (to heal) and putting it on a card where it's safe from more restrictive move effects could be really clever.

This was the pairing I mentioned. A little squishy, with no shielding to help out.
