@ExtropiaThe only way to avoid this would be to npt make the rules attached to cards in the packs but by attaching them to the units itself and publish them though files on their site (maybe locked by keycodes). This way they could simply update said files. Would also realisable by giving each card a QR code which links to the current version in digital form.
Why there won't be much power creep
actually all they would need to do is keep the point values off the cards, then they could recost units every quarter or so. I would be surprised if they released an ability that was just broken at any point value. I do like the idea of a QR code for card updates.
Edited by jcmonsonHonestly I just prefer an online errata/update system like that GW is doing for the new 40K, but FFG are addicted to cards. It unfortunately is a really, realllly slow way of balancing since heir waves are planned Way in advance.
FFG's print-on-demand service would be ideal for this. Sell a pack of updated cards every year with errata on them. Only the people in tourneys would really need them. Everyone else can just use home-printed sheets or something similar for their games
I don't think I'd want to see IA-style negative point-cost fixes in other packs. Just put the errata online, and offer PoD cards for those who want them.

In the future, you’ll probably get new rebel troopers that are straight up just better than the original rebel troopers. It’s just the extent of power creep.
Yes there command cards, cover and objectives that would require skill that can win against a mathematically superior army. But the danger comes when you introduce units that mess with the fundamentals of the game. You already have sharpshooter that ignores cover. If there would be units that allows u to straight up choose your objective card, or a command card with “0” pips, then I’ll start getting worried. Also token stacking might be a dangerous thing. If you can stack 3 dodge tokens on Vader per turn, no amount of suppression or cover or concentrated fire would get Vader off an objective.
Not to be pessimistic, but just pointing out all the ways there might be game breaking effects.
Disagree Armada has very little power creep

The armada players may breathe a sigh of relief but the x-wing players will breathe a sigh of frustration.
That game is a dead man walking

Seriously, thats barely an exaggeration. In melee, by far their most effective attack, an AT-RT will kill on average 1.3 Stormtroopers in a turn, for 55 points. I genuinely don't find that very scary.
****, a 68 point unit of Stormies with a DLT will match that back at an AT-RT at range 3, and the AT-ST or couple of missiles will just trash them.
AT-RTs are AMAZING with weaponry, but maths and my test games just don't show the results from the cheap naked ones so far.
It's a moderately hard to kill 55 points that imps cant match, which is more about activation abuse than the unit itself. Plus they can handily bog down a unit for a turn or two ( which lets not forget is 1/3 of the match) while your own troops get the objectives done.
I'm with you in the weaponry camp as well, rotary cannons should be brutal. But as people keep saying, this is a game of objectives, not xwing 100/6.

Tbh if someone brings this list i would call them an idiot. T-47s without at least one upgrade are wasting the arsenal keyword and those 3 trooper units would only have 4 men each. Also, at-rts without upgrades are just a nuisance but not a threat

Not sure about armada cuz I’m not up to date with it.
I’m not saying that there will or won’t be power creep. Just pointing out the various ways there can be

I agree. Activation advantage is great, but not if you don’t have units that can do anything with it. There’s very little damage there, not much that can hold objectives, and it’s just not as tough as it looks on paper once you take into account concentrated fire.
