Yako's Painting adventure

By Yakostovian, in X-Wing Painting and Modification

Wing symbols. Wing symbols.

It turns out if you are patient enough for a model to actually dry, you might be able to put the symbols on the side.

Scyk

As for my next project, I am making a type 2 Scyk. The spare plastic happens to be from an electrical outlet plug cover for toddler safety.

I forgot to take pictures of the intervening steps. Here is my Scyk as of right now.

Next step is to figure out a color for the body. Not sure what color that will be yet, but the wings will have the same checkerboard pattern as my Kihraxz.

Somehow, my edit killed my process step description to my scyk, but let's just say that it isn't done yet.

However, the wife got me a Hound's Tooth for my birthday, so that one will be getting the repaint treatment next.

I've been wanting to do a type 2 forever!

I have more pictures to add: I've been painting without taking pictures in between the various steps. You guys should expect an update Monday.

i really want to make a custom but I don’t know which ship to paint

Is this a custom or is it from another game

That scyk is a modified model. I took the existing FFG model, glued on spare plastic (a toddler electrical outlet safety cover) and molded it to the new ship using Citadel brand plastic glue and some Green Stuff to fill the gaps. I'm not completely happy with the result, as there are still some gaps and fingerprints in the molding, but it gets the job done.

The paint scheme is from a Star Wars campaign in a tabletop RPG I played in ages ago. The elite pilots had a red and black checkerboard pattern painted on the ship's tail, nose, or wings, with a yellow stripe separating the check pattern from the rest of the ship's paint-job.
