Have you been swayed....

Now that we can see what's going to be at launch or near it have you decided to change what faction you are going for? I was all empire until i seen the naval troopers and Leia. Being able to paint the rebel troopers from the box set with all their details as opposed to standard Storm Troopers appeals too. I'm really glad they went with a generic Leia rather than one which would tie her down to a setting, i.e. Hoth or Endor gear. The snow troopers are great but just too similar, looks wise, from the regular troopers to be interesting. Bring on the Death Troopers!!

Or is everyone just gonna collect both at once :)

I'm in the both camp for now. If I have both sides, then I can more easily recruit others later. ;)

I’m not convinced I will be buying into the game. I’m a solid X-Wing addict and am not sure I can afford a second habit.

That said, I’ll need a new handle if I buy in because I’m going empire all the way if I do. Easier to paint because I’ve never done a game you had to paint minis, and I like their ground based stuff more than I like the rebel t47s or the AT RT. It’s the fluff not the meta driving that

Traitor! Best you join the rebel scum with such wavering loyalty.

Seriously tho, I've just always wanted stormtrooper minis so I'm golden...oh and death troopers would be ace!

Rebel Alliance all the way!

Just so you know, white is probably the hardest color to paint on minis. If that's a part of your decision, you will probably find it easier to paint the rebels.

This is why I flunked Storm Trooper Academy :)

Well now, here I thought faces and stuff would be harder to do right. This is alarming.

Does white spray on primer look good? Like if you start with a white base and then paint in the darker parts?

Still Rebels for me!

I’m doing both. My wife will be my main opponent and it will be easier to convince friends to play if I have two already painted armies.

Still have the same dilemma.

I want to run imps but my competitive gut is still screaming at me that rebs have the edge, So far i'm in for 2 cores so we'll see with the full rules and some proxies....... doing the math financially i just cant support both armies once the new units drop (to cover full list building i believe we are going to need 3-4 minimum of any trooper unit, especially if you bought cores and need the extra cards)

Faces can be handled fairly well just with painting flesh and then washing. I don't particularly like picking out eyes as they can seem weird when holding the model at arms length.

If you're new to painting, it'll look quite passable. You could do a white primer, color in some black, then do a light wash followed by some white paint to bring it back up and it won't look bad by any means. This is what Sorastro does in his IA video and it looks quite nice.

But if you're wanting it to look really good, you'll want to start with a light grey. The problem with starting with white is that you have no where to go but down. This means you can't highlight anything.

Go to the Imperial Assault painting forum and look at Sorastros painting tutorials for Storm Troopers. Gives you an idea of what's involved.

I need to collect both, at least until I can convince my friends to buy in. They are willing to play with me as long as they don't have to buy anything.

As an addendum, I'd go for the method he uses for Kayn Somos and the heavy STs. White primer, dark grey in the joints and weapons, a wash, then soaking up the wash from the raised white spots while it's still wet. Then, just a bit of highlighting It seems a less time-consuming method than his bare-bones method used in the first episode.

Definitely both, stormies are pretty easy to paint. Spray white, paint black parts black, ink, go over white with GW scars white, highlight black with GW fang and table top ready, oh gloss the armor

I am doing both sides, but I am not as worried about being rolled by the Imp players any more.

....STORMIES.......and more, More, MORE STORMIES....always..loyal...

still a nope for me, i jumped into Destiny and regreted it, i love Armada and Assault but i'm giving this game a year before i consider getting in, by then we will have seen if FFG can be efficient enough to bring out product fast enough and with enough diversity. When maybe we have the choice between 4-5 commanders and some Elite units .

I will remain loyal to the empire until the end... but the rebels are looking real good right now.

I will fight for the rebellion.

Porque no la dos?
