we are still prepping for regionals and trying variants of empire lists against nymranda. Even after the nerf, the list still packs a ***** punch and my track record is 1:8 against it and 5:0 with it (test games). I am determined to bring Kylo to the next regional since he is just more expensive than Miranda so I can call game and win as soon as Nym dies. It's a cheap trick but I'm not sure how to pull it off. Kylo is pretty obvious:

Kylo Ren (47) TIE Silencer (35), First Order Vanguard (2), Push the Limit (3), Advanced Sensors (3), Advanced Optics (2), Autothrusters (2)

Here are my options:

a) Shuttle+Countdown

Nice, but goes down in the initial joust without a chance. Second turn Countdown dies by TLT fire and that's it.

b) Stridan

Surprisingly he goes also down. Maybe if I use countermeasures.

c) Quickdraw/Vader with Cruise/Harpoon

Interesting since Nym can't avoid the missile. Kylo and Vader with a 20 point ini bid for disrespect? (@Krayt)

d) Decimator

Very skinny but could hurt Nym.

e) Inquisitor+Cruise and Countdown

Has the same punch as Vader but another Ship with Countdown.

Opinions?

Vader/Gunner on the patrol leader decimator. That would help to burn one of them down, no matter what. It's 48 points, you can still do a bid, or add more to it. Once you get thru Nym's shields, 2 guaranteed crits will do a lot to burn him down.

I tought about this but Vader/Gunner Deci is just a major problem against everything else. You certainly lose these 48 points, no matter what.

Yo, QD. You can still fit a TIE fighter in there, maybe a useful named one if you build QD and Kylo cheap.

Choice of Cheap TIE

I think that Quickdraw or Vader plus whatever else you choose to fill up the points (and Epsilon Ace given above is a good suggestion) is probably the way to go. Countess Ryad (either x/7 or TIE/D with Ion cannon) is also another viable option for the Vader/Quickdraw role.

Also worth considering are TIE Agressors and Alpha Wings, and I've seen a few lists on the forum pairing two of them with Kylo that looked pretty good. With the Alpha's in particular you can build them as cheap or as expensive as you want, so you could pair one of them with Omega Leader. Maybe something like this:

Kylo Ren (Silencer) - First Order Vanguard (2), Push the Limit (3), Advanced Sensors (3), Advanced Optics (2), Autothrusters (2) - 47pts

Omega Leader - Juke (2), Comm Relay (3) - 26pts

Nu Squadron Veteran - XG1 Assault Configuration (1), Flechette Cannon (2), Ion Cannon (3), Long Range Scanners (0) - 24pts

Total = 97pts (3pt bid)

Omega Leader is useful in most matchups but once she's target-locked Miranda it will make it very hard for her to shake you off. The Nu Squadron Veteran will spend it's time trying to ionise Nym so he can't drop bomblets, but he also has the Flechette cannon so he has something to fire when slamming. Both ships should be equally useful against a variety of other fleet types.

I've been trying the Decimator with Kylo and it can be fun and effective but it does always die and bleed MOV.

I just flew a 44pt Kylo and two x7 Delta Defenders in a few games and it was more effective than I thought.

I've been wanting to try Kylo, Omega Leader and Backdraft but haven't put it on the table yet.

It seems two Gunboats with harpoon missiles is prolly the most effective. Nym doesn't like getting hit by harpoon missiles...
