The main battles are between the Rebellion and the empire, but who would like other battles?
I am thinking of smaller forces, Tuskan, Ewok, Jawa,Hutt etc they all can have 'armies' in a sense.
That way it could open the world a bit more and have the chance for a smaller group of the Empire fighting a Tuskan raiding party for example.
Just an idea, what do you think?

Definitely what I want. Will add a lot of variety. At least scum and villainy as one faction and nuetral independents as another.
Well since this game does seem to focus on smaller scale engagements rather than enormous battles, I definitely think it would work. Those armies may have less variety, like maybe one commander and one unit for each slot (just make them a bit more customisable to compensate) and you could still have a lot more variety to play around with.
I agree, and it fits the official lore better.

I think that lumping the smaller factions under "scum" will give a lot of flexibility, so long as each "subfaction" has a commander. If you want a Tusken raider force, only take the Tusken forces, maybe with some Jawas forced to fight with them for instance. Already the game allows for Snowtroopers and Stormtroopers or Fleet troops and Rebel Soldiers to be fielded alongside each other, so whether or not someone wants to play with a "canon" force, is up to the decisions to make, with the option for others to mix and match.

All of these ideas are exactly what I want from this game.
The smaller scale battles between the races of star wars will be epic.
I'd buy battle droid troopers (and ewoks).

I second that, a battle droid faction would be an insta buy for me.
I think the only faction I’d be tempted to buy into besides the Empire (since I’m picking one of two for cost savings ) would be the battle droids/CIS.
Can’t imagine Tuskens, Jawas, Hutts or many small factions ever being able to hold their own against Darth Vader at the head of an imperial army or even Luke and the Rebels. Leaving out that we have barely any named characters in canon anymore to head any of these armies (cause we’re never gonna see Jabba on a board are we...) thematically I can’t see it making sense. Would many small independent factions actually go head to head with the night of the empire, knowing that the repercussions will be colossal? Doubt it. I think it’s a nice idea, but I don’t think it’s what this game is gonna be about.
there are enough references to old CIS battle droids during the GCW to create a faction. There have been references in Rebels, Thrawn, Tarkin, Aftermath, Darth Vader comics, and From a Certain Point of View, and it's been enough to cover 2 units for each slot except heavy and commander which have 1 option.

To be fair, the same could be said for the Rebellion. The only time they didn't get destroyed was Endor, and that was because the Emporer was overconfident.
