Doom... raddish?

By Tiberius the Killer, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

I have been out of the game for a couple months. But this wave is bringing me back in.

Anyways, I love the MC-75, and want to find a way to make it awesome, possibly in a similar way to the doom pickle. So here is my go at it.

MC75 Ackbar
Author: Tiberius the Killer

Faction: Rebel Alliance
Points: 390/400

Commander: Admiral Ackbar

Assault Objective: Most Wanted
Defense Objective: Capture the VIP
Navigation Objective: Salvage Run

[ flagship ] MC75 Armored Cruiser (104 points)
- Admiral Ackbar ( 38 points)

-Aspiration (3 points)

-Strategic Advisor (4 points)
- Gunnery Team ( 7 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)

- Hardened bulkheads (5 points)
- X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points)
- Leading Shots ( 4 points)
- External Racks ( 3 points)
= 169 total ship cost

Assault Frigate Mark II B (72 points)
- Lando Calrissian ( 4 points)
- Caitken and Shollan ( 6 points)
- Electronic Countermeasures ( 7 points)
- X17 Turbolasers ( 6 points)
= 95 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Bright Hope ( 2 points)
- Toryn Farr ( 7 points)
- Comms Net ( 2 points)
= 29 total ship cost

GR-75 Medium Transports (18 points)
- Repair Crews ( 4 points)
= 22 total ship cost

1 Tycho Celchu ( 16 points)
1 Shara Bey ( 17 points)
2 VCX-100 Freighters ( 30 points)

I'm still playing around with it. I like the idea of getting two shots very powerful shots pretty consistently with the MC-75. Not sure I should do with AFM or try for some Corvettes. Also not sure if Caitken and Shollan are better than Gunnery teams. I'm thinking one dependable is better than two undependable. And I'm wondering how tanky I can make the MC-75. Lando was just thrown in there, trying to decide how I want to spend those last points.

I may be trying to fit a square peg into a round hole, but I'd love to hear your thoughts.

What would it take to swop repair crews for Jainas light?

Hummm... I could drop it for 22, Toryn Far and Bright hope for 9, Lando for 4, plus the extra 10 that still remain. I could drop Catiken and Shollan and demote Tycho to a generic. That would give me enough for a TRC Jaina's light. Is it worth it? Should I just drop the Frigate for 2 TRC90s?

For the ordnance, I think your Armored might benefit more from Pods in this case. ER is a single burst, but pods can give you flak every turn to whittle down a squad presence you don't want snooping around your flagship.

Other than that I think keeping the AF and trying to work the points for a CR for repair crews is a solid idea if you can make the points.

Maybe. The AF MK II doesnt need both Lando and ECM. Toryn doesnt offer you much here. And Jainas may be worth more than Caitken.

I wondered as its a lot more depth and seems doable, just.

Nah.

Dropped the Repair, Lando, Toryn and Bright hope, and a VCX was demoted to a Headhunter.

I really wonder how well Aspiration will do, and I also wonder if Caitken is worth it. But I suppose playing with them will determine this. I'd like to keep both A-wing aces for their scatters, but not sure if it's worth dropping a VCX. Now if only those ships would come in already I could start giving this a try! Also I'm looking forward to the day we actually get to play @BrobaFett! I plan on being at Comic Quest in February.

After playing 2 games with lists similar to this, my thoughts:

Hardened Bulkheads: in 2 games never came into effect, once because I rammed a large ship, and once because the front arc was already scary enough.

Switching them to tractor beams: Never used these before, but thought it may be a fun way to try to keep ships from coming too close, especially something like BTAvenger or demolisher if it is chasing the conga line. Anyone ever used the tractor beams with an ackbar conga line?

C&S are all stars, and my AF in both games was more dangerous than the MC75.

Objectives: I really can't seem to nail down a good defensive objective for this fleet. Planetary Ion Cannon seems the only remotely advantageous one, unless I'm missing something.

Any thoughts, always appreciated!

Generally speaking, tractor beams are only a help against BTvenger if you are either first player, or have last activation...

... As the BTVenger wants to last/first you itself, tractor beams only make a good situation better, they don’t help when it’s getting its way...

Hummm... That's true. I just love the idea of keeping ships out of close range, but that may be pretty rare to pull off. Maybe no offensive retrofit.

Radishes are tasty.

Never. In my reality they have never existed and shall go on unexisting.

/hate, hate, hate that show

I'm not really good enough to give advice, but would Shara & Tycho be enough? That way you can push them with just the flotilla. Then if you also drop the tractor beams you can add in another flotilla for an extra activation.
