Resistance Bomber

Made a few mods to the resistance Bomber.

1. I lit up the engines. I drilled holes in the 4 centerish engines. The two on the end broke off so I “upgraded” them with stainless steel:

2. I installed a small 100 milliamperes lipo battery to run everything. I ran small pins to the front to charge the battery. I used an old B-Wing cockpit to cover those pins but I may just keep it exposed, not sure I like the look of that lump on the front:

i still I’ll need to install a switch. I may use the same concept as the charging port and use a little plug to close the circuit between the 2 pins to turn the lights on. I still have a little light bleed to close up. This was a tough project, it was way too small. I may paint the inside to close up the slight bleed though in the plastic.

Nice job. Not going to lie, I kinda like the bleed through effect. But if you want to get rid of it, painting the interior is a good way. You can also use aluminum foil tape - not only will it keep the light from going through, but it'll reflect it back. I'm not sure how you have the engines lit (fiber optics, or just bleed through) - but if you're just relying on the LED to bleed through the engines, reflecting the light every place you don't want it to go will help. As for your on/off and recharging ports, I have a few ideas. First, if you don't like the B wing cockpit, you can do the same type of thing but on the rear turret or something. Second, if you actually give yourself 3 pins instead of 2, you can then use it for both recharging and as your on/off. Pin 1 goes to the battery positive. Pin 2 goes the the LED positive. Pin 3 goes to the Battery negative. To recharge, you use pins 1&3. To turn it on, you use pins 1&2. So you make your B wing cockpit or turret or whatever connect 1&2, and then your external charger plugs into 1&3. Alternatively, you can use a magnetic reed switch to turn it on, placing a magnet in the thing that you remove to reveal the recharge pins, and having the magnet then trigger the reed switch, turning the ship on when you put it together, and turning it off to provide access to recharge.

Reed switches are coming from China so they will be a while. I drilled holes in the engines and the light is just shining through. I like the 3 pin idea.

You didn't take any photos of the disassembly did you?

Lol. Nope. I never think about that mid project. Here is a picture of the switch I made:
