Leia and Fleet troopers

By Sk3tch, in Star Wars: Legion

Leia is fantastic, and the Fleet Troopers could well be devastating.

Feeling pretty good about playing Rebels right now :)

Spot the mistakes. I don’t know enough about Legion gameplay to catch the others, but fleet troopers quote is attributed to the wrong movie. :)

It’s like the X-Wing articles, spot the errors.

90 points, Nimble, Rally 2, and Inspire 2. Looks like many of our guesses for Leia abilities/costs were very close.

Short range pistols, free aim token for Standby, shotgun and Impact 2 grenade launcher. Some of those things I saw guessed at (of course you throw enough stuff on the wall, something will stick :P)

EDIT: Leia's visible command card is VERY interesting.

Yeah just by eye Iprefer the rebel options.

I LOVE THEM...

Awesome! Looks like targeting scopes will be almost mandatory for the Fleet Troopers between their high volume of white dice and ability to gain free aim tokens.

Im actually disappointed theres no 'kneeling' firing trooper.

I'm a fan of the rapid-fire, short-range, somewhat less powerful attacks. Interested to see more!

What film is leias box art outfit from? Cant place it? Looks like Endor pre ewoks but no green on it?

Im going to end up with about 20 different 'armies' in this game.

Already started on putting my 3rd board together!!

It's from the Endor briefing:

Fleet troopers are 2 white each. That's a lot of blanks to be rolling!

Thanks...I really should have known but its been a long day :)

Now I need to make a spaceship interior board and have a Rebel vs Stormtrooper battle!!

I really like the design here. Both kinds of Rebel corps look fun and thematic, and they each have a useful place in the game.

Since the game isn't built around the small, cramped interior corridors of a starship, the Fleet Troopers will have to fill a different niche on the more open battlefield.

I predict that niche is going to be either deep in cover holding an objective, or sitting around the corner of a building/obstacle that blocks the sight of an attacker. With double the volume of fire from a standard corps unit (along with both offense & defense surges), and being able to earn free aim tokens when readying, Fleet Troopers are tailor-made to park their butts somewhere and then dare the enemy to come-at-them-bro.

We haven't seen anything about terrain yet, so cramped boards might be a possibility.

I think a space ship interior map could work fine...look at some of the ships, they are huge. Corellians are pretty small, but some of the bigger ships wont all be cramped will they?

The most we've seen from game demos and "included" terrain is either singular large buildings or chest-high cover. I'm obviously not writing off any further terrain in later updates (or homebrew rules/modes), but for the immediate release of the game as well as wave 1, the most we can expect right now is a pretty open battlefield. Remember that big vehicles like AT-STs need maneuvering room, so the board will never end up so cramped that Fleet Troopers will be able to go everywhere and maximize effectiveness.

I am trying to work out whether it is just the paint job, but those figure sculpts seem to have gone downhill.

I love how FFG captures the thematic feels. For example, the fleet troopers having ready reminds me of the opening shot where the rebels are waiting for the imperials to blast into the Tantieve IV.

Their runewars stuff doesn't look the best either. I think it is the paint jobs.

Leia’s is a disappointment for sure.
