I could get 5 more transports into my list with an increase to 500 points!

And increase your bid by 10 points.

Pretty sure you'd win every game at that point.

World Champ list:

Name: Win Button
Faction: Rebel
Commander: Admiral Ackbar

Assault: Advanced Gunnery
Defense: Fire Lanes
Navigation: Sensor Net

MC80 Assault Cruiser (114)
• Admiral Ackbar (38)
• Strategic Adviser (4)
• Engine Techs (8)
• Electronic Countermeasures (7)
• Early Warning System (7)
• Leading Shots (4)
• XI7 Turbolasers (6)
• Defiance (5)
= 193 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Leia Organa (3)
• Comms Net (2)
= 23 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Toryn Farr (7)
• Comms Net (2)
• Bright Hope (2)
= 29 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Ahsoka Tano (2)
• Repair Crews (4)
= 24 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Repair Crews (4)
= 22 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Slicer Tools (7)
= 25 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Slicer Tools (7)
= 25 Points

GR-75 Medium Transports (18)
• Slicer Tools (7)
= 25 Points

Squadrons:
• 3 x VCX-100 Freighter (45)
• Jan Ors (19)
• 2 x X-wing Squadron (26)
= 90 Points

Total Points: 500

This list is why I like a rule like no more flotillas than real ships or something like that

Guys can we please lobby for 500 point games? I really need to use my 9 GR-75s.

All hail the new 2+8 meta!

I think that 500 points would not be a great idea, but I have said before, we may be jumping the shark. Don't worry, I am all on board for bigger games and getting all my sweet plastic ships on the table. However, I think we will see a balancing point after wave 7 launches and games will return to running all the way to time. That, and do not forget, wave 8 may bring us the new lord and savor... squads? Small ships? Who knows?

If what @BiggsIRL suggests comes true, I'm going to let my future child use my models as teething rings.

I just want to build out a list that actually LOOKS like a serious threat on the table... and play it. Problem is that it'll end up being closer to 800 points.

What happens if your opponent fills his list with medium and small combat ships so there is no big lynchpin to his fleet? He could still come up with a decent number of activations, and still Zerg swarm you only combat ship? While yes that would basically ensure your capitalizing the activations aspect, I could see a 3 or 4 ISD or liberty list tearing it up. I think that as you increase point quality of activations would be of far greater use. Not that an almost gauranteed last first wouldn't be amusing, but I think at that extreem would be less effective than we all fear.

But the flotillas protect me.

A warm blanket of flotillas to protect us all from the monsters....for as we all know blankets are monster proof. Knew a guy once, it was a hot night his ac was down decided to go to sleep with no blankets. BOOM! MONSTERS ATE HIS TOES!

Activation advantage doesn't become OP at larger point totals, activation quality does.

That's what I want to see anyway. Heavy ships slugging it out, and light ships harassing around the edges.

To be fair, activation advantage would still be a thing, but not in the extreme way it is now. You'd still want to wait out the enemy.

Activation advantage allowing for a large ship to delay until something in range is definitely a thing- a la Acbkar Defiance and 6 flotillas. But it's a corner case, usually after that 1 turn of delay, the big ship is the first thing going first every turn so the advantage is moot. I'm ok with this sort of activation arms race because not everyone benefits from it and its only a 1 turn benefit.

Where activation advantage really skews is when you have 7 ships, first player, and a Demo or Admo that you can move a total of 8 maneuver ruler notches before your opponent has the ability to respond. In competition that is just a huge range that an enemy ship can land anywhere in, making it incredibly hard to react to, especially for a large ship that generally has to point some direction and essentially 2 turns in advance and hope that it works. Usually it doesn't. When you can take 2 or more big threats, now I can overlap those fire fields and while Demo may be able to last first into my large ship, I can GUARENTEE that it has nowhere safe to run afterwards, and it will die. Taking that trick out of the MSU playback dramatically reduces it's effectiveness. This is why MSU is weak in high point games.
