Please FFG.

By JackD2204, in Star Wars: Legion

I know that FFG is a very busy company, (especially in the star wars department) but please guys, can we get a little bit of info on the core rules, or maybe the rebel expansions that were recently spoiled. I know I sound very impatient and stupid, but I feel like this should be a big deal, a star wars war game! Thats awesome. I am just so amazed at all of the content for this game so far that I am already hungry for more  . Does anyone else feel like the hype train is slowing down a bit? Hopefully it starts back up again when we get more info.

Things are starting to drag the past 2 weeks or so. And the trooper filler article didn't help much, just imagine how redundant the rebel trooper one will be eh?

I wouldn't count on them reading any of this though, more likely things will happen when FFG feels like it. But I do hope we get a release date during 1st week of Feb.....

This is the part of the cycle that I call pre-buyers remorse, the game isn't here and the excitement for it has almost completely gone.

I don't know why FFG insists on giving us so much notice of a game, 6 months, come on guys 6 weeks we can stay excited for 6 weeks.

I think of it as less remorse and more of burn out. There is only so long I can stay excited until it just becomes impatience. They stopped really giving us new information that we haven't seen from leaks, and the leaks are even a whole wave ahead. Add in that we have a Rebel trooper preview that will go over the Specialists, but no new card reveals until I think potentially the Speeder bike reveal (if they reveal that flipped card), and there isn't much more to be excited about until release or at least the release of the rulebook.

Thats quite a statement.

I cant bloody wait.

I second that! With 5 months of anticipation of what seemed to be the next big thing, I fear (that for me personally) the initial generated hype has peaked too soon - it did last till mid january though, which by most standards are an accomplishment in itself. The prospect of not knowing the release date is probably the biggest downside for me. It doesn't matter too much when the game actually releases if only the release date was set and known. The way it is now with preorders up for 5 months with no known prospects of its actual release reminds me of some the Kickstarters that never really got off the boat (pun intended) - somehow this business strategy have me thinking of Legion as an abandoned specialists game before it's even released.

6 months ago when announced I was watching videos of people playing the game at GenCon and if they said it was in stores in 4-6 weeks I would have organised 2 copies of everything and been there at midnight the day before the game released to pick it up. Now I did pre-order 2 core sets the same weekend as GenCon, I have also purchase a play mat, built 1.5 tables of terrain (maybe 2), purchased a binder, storage pages and card sleeves. I am ready to go, all I have to do is glue and paint. I have offered to paint my friends models as they are not able to for various reasons. As a result I have decided that I will paint the 4 core sets, then as I finish things add more.

All that is left is the wait, we have no release event or anything to build into, just the bloody wait. But for me the emotion of these cycles just builds up a level of apathy, I can't bloody wait but I just don't care that I have to.

Am i the only mad barstard crazy enough to wait till it's out to do my terrain (properly scaled)?

My biggest issue right now trying is not to pull the trigger on another stl bundle from imperial terrain......

I've not done any terrain yet. Nor do I actually have a table big enough to play a full-size game.

Indeed, i really knew nothing about the game until December or so, when I finally got around to watching Sorastro's video for Luke. I had skipped all the GenCon news last year.

Now I've preordered two cores and one of each expansion. I'll worry about terrain once I get the rules and the minis. I want terrain to mean something, rather than just have speeders fly right over it all the time.

Looking at the Imp terrain stuff, Im pretty sure they are good for scale, look too big next to Ia stuff.

I too am waiting to build my terrain/table. I am actually building an interior of the Death Star/Imperial Space Station. It will be 100% modular so that the layout can be changed so that the table doesn't become routine. I had been using Darth Vader and Chewbacca from Imperial Assault for scale as they are the tallest figures and hopefully close to standard Legion scale.

My problem was that I wanted it to be "multi-leveled" using elevations and catwalks. I am hesitant because I don't want to create areas/levels that are unusable due to rules of combat.

It's the second week

FFG start hyping way too early. They did the same with Armada, and ran into a similar problem (though a chunk of the issues with that launch were out of their hands in many ways).

I mean....i can easily wait, since i have other projects. But the longer people wait the more chance they are that money will be spent elsewhere, excitement reduces, and so on.

Really, 3-4 months of hype and previews would be ample, and if anything that's WAY longer than most miniature games companies.

At least some wishes granted. Two new articles up!

I think they are hyping the Wave 2 stuff a bit early, but I understand part of the point of the preview articles for the next wave is to give people an idea of what is to come in the system and encourage them to get the starter before they all sell out in a week or two after release.

The measurements and comparisons to the IA figures have been available for months, including base sizes. When it comes to natural terrain, you really dont need specifics. Rocks and trees come in all sizes. When it comes to buildings, you can use other minis as placeholders. Ive been using IA Chewbacca, Vader, and Necron Warriors as reference. And ive been building terrain for 4 strait months and my board isnt nearly complete. I can't imagine not starting. I wouldn't be playing a game until autumn lol

I'm not sure what scale details everyone is waiting for. 90% of terrain has a sliding scale. Crates, bushes, even moisture vaporators come in different sizes and styles. I guess it comes down to what each player is doing for their personal terrain. My OCD triggered when I read that people hadn't started terrain lol. Panic attack!

I really only have the option of playing at my FLGS, which has appropriate terrain already.

Besides, if the Spanish site is to believed the intended release day is in MARCH.

I want to make sure there aren't any special terrain rules like Runewars. I'm not expecting magical ruins or Swamps of Sadness, but I want to make sure the terrain is usable.

And mainly flat. I hate putting minis on uneven terrain. If 95% of the base isn't on the mat, I want to adjust it until it is.

All solid reasons. Im just excited for this game. Im sure ill make more boards in time with full terrain rules in mind.

It is notable that Runewars, Armada have all had similar drama issues in the run up to initial release. We are pretty much at the 'just release the blanking thing' phase.

I guess I wasn't as hyped for Armada as I knew I wouldn't have a place to play when it was released, unlike Legion, so I don't remember as much slow leaking of official information. I understand FFG wants to start the hype early to get pre-orders so they can have a better idea of how to allocate product, but it would be nice if they at least narrowed down the release window as it approached. I've been surprised by the release date on some of their board games, and it was only because I had set up a pre-order at my FLGS months in advance when the game was first announced that I got the game on release day. They missed the holiday season and last year's movie release, and unless they are going to delay it even further, it's coming out well before the Han Solo movie... and they don't have Han Solo as one of the characters being released.

I'm very much in the "release the blanking thing" phase, I feel like it is unlikely there will be any information coming out between now and the official rules release that will shatter my preconceptions about the game, the dribs and drabs of semi-unreliable information in the preview articles isn't really interesting.

My biggest hiccup on making my Death Star table is the inclusion of blast doors and elevations.

The Death Star really didn't have ladders or stairs. They had elevators. I can't say the same for an Imperial Outpost but I am planning on using ramp type walkways. I have everything printed and ready to assemble I just gotta put it together. I just don't want the "grappling hook" card to become mandatory to play.
