This could actually be done after looking at the D6 Force Powers, this could be done and could be done just like the Magic system the three skills would be Alter, Sense, and Control which would give them access to new powers. What does everyone think?
Jedi Powers to Genesys
Definitely, even the FFG Powers could be converted
I like it. My biggest issue with SWRPG is the number of abilties that use Force dice to add Successes and Advantages. Using skill checks and strain feel like a better fit overall for me, especially at higher experience levels where a sufficient Force Rating means you can succeed pretty much at will.
I absolutely love the dark/light mechanic of FFG’s system, I don’t know how you get that back with a skill based system. I think it would need to be tied into the difficulty increase mechanics. Using the dark side (or light if you’re a Dark Sider) from Threat/Despair is too random. Having to draw on both sides of the Force to make s more powerful Force Power seems much better.
Edit:
Something like:
When using a Force Power every Difficulty die beyond one requires you to draw on both sides of The Force. Suffer two Strain per Difficulty die beyond the first.
Then have a Ranked Talent at T4 that allows you to use 1 more difficulty die without suffering the Strain.
Its not ideal, but it’s a start
Edited by RichardbuxtonThe D6 Powers even say when you get a Dark Side point for using the power. Like Rage and inflict Pain would be a Dark Side point or Conflict.
There is one power I would actually turn more into a Talent or even a Manuever and that would be concentration that would let you reduce strain or even Difficulty or even making an improved Concentration talent that could reduce the Difficulty.
Edited by gilburDeciding on a method for measuring how Dark a character is is probably the first step.
Looking over the old D6 rules from 2nd edition that apparently has been updated as well from years of dedication, Looks like the Dark side list is 1-5 points or we can even raise it to 10 points instead or we can even base it off of a Genesys die and do blank no change to your character, if something positive then they lose a Dark side point at the end of the session, of something bad they gain the dark side point.
The Skills would be Sense (Willpower), Control (Intellect), Alter (Willpower) and when you get a power that uses two or more Skills, Merge the skills like when you have two characters that are working together on a Skill. so what does this look like to everyone?
That’s decent, probably with some talents that allows Cunning to be used with Sense and Presence with Alter.
10 pts, Strong Alter: This allows your Character to use Presence with the Alter Skill instead of Cunning
10 pts. Strong Sense: this talent allows your Character to use Cunning with the Sense skill instead of Willpower.
Doing this would allow us to go back and use the Original Force powers from the original D6 game, This List was clipped from the "Tales of the Jedi" Companion. Let me know what everyone thinks of this...
I always wished Force powers would have been done skill based with added effects just like weapon effects.
I have been thinking about how to handle Force powers in a more Genesys (I.e. skill based) way. My thought right now is to have a Force Rating that world act as the characteristic and then allow the Jedi to train in Force skills (such as telekenisis, Force lightning, etc. — I haven’t worked out all the skills).
The Force Rating would be increased by one with a Force Sensitive talent.
