This is far and away my most favorite (in theory) Kylo build/partner. KylRho seems more "meta" appropriate, but honestly, I halfway expect the Gunner version of this to show up at some point and surprise more than few people.

Now if only the Upsilon had a rear arc...

I would do the following, since PS4 is pretty big, Oicunn gives you another way to force damage, and Determination keeps Blinded Pilot from ruining your day.

I flew Kylo and Stridan last night twice and lost handily both times. First was a hideous Kanan build with docked shuttle and Fenn in shethipede. I could barely put any damage on the Ghost, and his TLT relentlessly killed the Upsilon. Kylo could move and spend many rounds inside the Ghost’s bubble and out of arc, but I just couldn’t put the damage in it with unmodified shots and Kanan’s Ability and the evade token from Fenn’s coordinate.

I switched to Palp crew just to see what it would be like: much worse. Vader with cruise, QD with Poon and a Poon Nu beat me. In that game, I forgot the shuttle’s title!! It might have made some difference, not sure. PS 11 Vader going after Kylo was impossible.

I did use the title both games for the evade reroll and for 2 points it’s probably worth it.

I might try this list again (back to Rebel Captive and Gunner) but for me, so far not good.

Hmm. Yeah, palp doesn't do that list any good, and it hamstrings the shuttle in fact. Really takes the teeth out of it. Why were Kylos shots against the ghost unmodified? You should have been stealing TL's from Stridan, thats why you take Stridan, FCS and Gunner. Kylo gets to steal the leftover TL from the end of Stridan's activation the turn before (last FCS). Even if Kylo has to spend both of his PTL actions repositioning, he should at least get to use the TL from Stridan.

Forgetting to use the shuttle's title is a big nono, especially in game 2. Stressing Vader at the end of combat shuts him down, hard. The total dial on the TieAdv isn't the worst, but its greens are. Stressing Vader at the end of the turn means that you've pretty much locked in his move next turn, so you should be setting up a block, even if you have to use Kylo to do it. An actionless vader is a dead vader.

Now, if you managed to let Kylo slip out of R3 or less from Stridan, that's going to account for some of the issues. Kylo depends on stealing Stridan's TL, and getting the coordinate at PS4 depending on board state. To me, this is one of the major points for bringing the Upsilon, and for using Stridan, and for using Adv Sensors on Kylo. Most turns, when possible, you should be ending it with no stress. Starting the next turn without Kylo being stressed means you can coordinate an action to him, then AdvSen an action then PTL a second, and wipe it all with one of the 400 green maneuvers his dial has. Or, you can coordinate one action, adv sensor another one, then perform a red maneuver. True you're stressed now, BUT you've still managed to get 2 actions AND performed a talon or k turn. Part of the battle is knowing when to PTL and when not to. And don't forget, if Kylo doesn't need the coordinate, then don't. Either focus w/ the shuttle or boost to dictate range, and don't forget that the shuttle can do a red and still take an action, provided you weren't already stressed. The shuttle should never be spending an action for a TL though. Just hole punch that out of the action bar.

I need more practice for sure. I think that a ghost match up was a pretty close hard counter to this list. TLT shooting twice on Upsilon kills it in 4 turns. Not much if anything can stop it.

Played this last night. Really like it! Countdown just loves Range 1 and survives. Both Inquis and Kylo are a pain to deal with. Good times.

Yeah, double tap Kanan is gross. Never understood why that ability wasn't more like Coran's where it created a weapons disabled token. Probably just lazy playtesting never looked at it with TLT. I flew against a Kanan doubletap and Biggs pre-Biggs nerf, and wanted to throw things.

Only way to take it on is to take it on in the face. Probably with something stupid like Rey crew and had a pile of focus banked too? In that case, if he had initiative, I'd say the best approach would be to make sure I'm crashing the shuttle into the Ghost every turn if possible, hoping to get that R1 shot. I haven't had to face that matchup yet though. But basically, I'd try my hardest to do R1 passes with the shuttle, while I harass and damage with Kylo, even unmodified. Joust once, then kite. The shuttle might not have a K turn, but that red one turn plus a pattern analyzer boost is at least a pretty tight 135*. It's also why I start out on a board edge. It eliminates my opponents opportunities to get behind the shuttle and flank it.

Kylo Stridan definitely isn't an easy list to fly, but if done right, it hits like a truck. If its something you're interested in "getting good with", keep practicing, but make sure you're practicing right, and don't forget those optional triggers (or non-optional, like rebel captive, kylo's conditions, etc).

Yes with Recon Specialist boot. I think there was a definite problem with my target prioritization though. Should have burned down Fenn ASAP in retrospect.

It's good, but you almost always want 1-4 points on the bid with Kylo just for the flexibility on matchups. I'd probably take off bombs and/or captive on the deci to achieve that bid and make it more expendable and weigh the point scale in Kylo's favor a little more.

It seems to me that nobody but nobody is flying PS 9 these days. Its all PS11 or < 8 it seems. Not sure how useful a bid is with a PS9 Kylo TBH.

Yeah, on that DeciLo list ,I'd drop the bomb and upgrade to Oicunn and add some free EPT garbage like Trick Shot.
